Challenge run fail
Alas instead of victory I report a challenge run failure.
I played solo and wanted to kill all bosses and hang their trophies in under 100 days. I also set myself playstyle rules, no merchant, no farming, no cauldron (therefore no potions and recipe food) no movement penalty armour. Basically I wanted to see if light armour, lowish tier food and no potions could be enough to beat all bosses.
I killed all bosses except Yagluth.
On day 43 I summoned Yagluth.
I had:
padded helm level 2
fenris chest and pants level 2
Troll cape level 4
Iron mace level 4
Eikthyr power
Serpent meat, lox meat, cloudberry
Skills probly around 40 mostly
I failed hard and hard and hard, again and again. I only got him about one third down on health. I could have continued, it just would've meant going for more boat rides to get more serpent meat and hunting some more lox and then I could keep trying but not having a fire potion for protection is bloody hell, one hit sometimes can be more than enough to wipe me out, I have to be crazy precautions but the hustle needs to be kept up so he doesn't just keep regenerating. The concentration level was too much for me at that moment and I couldn't handle it. I may return when im fresh again but just wanted to give the heads up if anyone else is game to try this?
Ps. I have beaten Yagluth before many times. this is a challenge run I'm trying with the main big thing being no potions. It seems so far Yagluth is very hard to do without potions. I will try beat him on a fully geared character without using potions and see if gear could be a deciding factor to the no potions run.

I didn't set these rules out for myself just to set up exploitive ways to finish the game.
I totally feel you on that one, mate. A challenge is a challenge for a reason.

I didn't set these rules out for myself just to set up exploitive ways to finish the game and i said nothing about bows or tames, not that their exploitive just the rules don't really make it more challenging to use soley bows or tames ya know, no disrespect of course, the extra perspective given got me out of tunnel vision not seeing the obvious other options, thanks guys. 🫀
if I get around to getting this run done soon I'll repost otherwise assume my character is stuck in valheim for the rest of his un-life

I have never tried such a thing, but I think that Bonemass' power would be better than Eikthyr. Also, I've heard that the Frosner Hammer is good against Yag because he is weak against blunt and spirit damage.

frostner is good, but alas you need the merchant to be able to make frostner and this be a no merchant run. Yeah maybe bonemass instead so to add as much resistance as possible if the attacks hit, though my stam pool is super low its kinda hard to say if i should make it easier to dodge or to take more hits, can only try I have never tried such a thing, but I think that Bonemass' power would be better than Eikthyr. Large set of tamed 2 star wolves shred yag in seconds if they're on him when he spawns. Whether you could find and breed 2 starts under 100 days though would be the only question.
Then there's the floor method some speed runners use too of course. Check it out on youtube.

Lox drop breeding pen would work nicely against Yag.
It's pretty easy to build up above his summoning circle to create a breeding pen that will drop baby lox down below for the eventual fight.
I made a whole base on top of his arena before my party summoned like 5 or 6 reducing it all to rubble

Also a fantastic idea. Def would have wrecked him. I spose I'm just a glutton for punishment and like doing things myself haha Lox drop breeding pen would work nicely against Yag.

Yeah true. That's a good point, maybe I should stop making it so hard on myself lol I often solo Yaggie for fun with a bow and no pots I personally think you failed your run with your weapon choice against Yagluth, but that's me.

Oh your right, what was I thinking? 🤦 Should of brought the fenris cowl for the full set in fire resistance. That's the reason why I brought eikthyr instead of bonemass cause I know the fight doesn't really have anything to do with physical damage. Ok I will go find some more ice caves and if I can find enough flax in my travels I'll try make a black metal sword. Otherwise damage output my iron mace is fine, I have actually defeated yag with a silver knife so blackmetal gear isn't a priority for me but survivability is

I'm a bit confused. You're mentioning the iron mace, but no shield? Why not a black metal weapon and shield? And yes, I would try the full Fenris set as well.
Edit: The padded helm is also not considered "light armor". Might as well go for the Fenris cowl.

You got this! You did have a lot of extra days considering you were at Yugo on day 43. Might have tried to get a few more upgrades. What about arrows and such? Also, I think the silver sword might have been a better weapon choice for melee. Is taming an option?

Good luck, I can see how these runs would be fun but I enjoy building intricate bases, just can't see myself ever trying to see how fast I could kill all the bosses :).
I really do hope they make the combat more challenging, or some options to make it tougher. Higher HP and damage by bosses/mobs would not be enough (overly simplistic, just takes longer, isn't more challenging), they need to instead be faster or have better AI/pathing or more abilities, etc. Not sure we'll ever get that but one can hope.

You could try it in Fenris armor for the fire resistance.
