I am annoyed at the stuff when I am chopping down trees

So annoyed, that when it happens, I don't equip a different weapon. Greylings and Greydwarves just get axed in the face

Then I continue with my deforestation plans

Heh, you think they bother you chopping trees? Wait till you start mining, they'll come from all over!

When it comes to mining, I've tried all sorts of different methods, from pacifying the area to fortifying the mine, however, in the end, what I do now is.. just mine and use the interruptions as a welcome break from mining and an excuse to train.

PS: and let's not forget the hilarity of things like jumping off a node to engage a grey, landing on top of his head, and going for a ride!

if you are seeing an overabundance of grey dwarves make sure to scout a little and see if there is a spawner nearby.

when you find a spawn location either destroy it or form a stone wall around it using the hoe. once you get the wall around it about 4 - 5 high, jump inside and start using the pickaxe to make the edge vertical so they cant walk up.

it can take some time, but it works well. there are areas where enemies will still spawn even without the spawn location there - yet this will greatly reduce their numbers.

for a base look for a place that is already a slight hill and then start to cut the edges vertical and then you can build your base on the top without them bothering you too much. make sure you give yourself at least 4m from the edges since log trolls can still reach with their swing. the rock ones can also reach more, but once you get the stonecutter then you are golden. make getting the stone cutter your priority and building will be so much better.

I like to ditch the club and fight with my axe.
Not only does it save switching at inconvenient times, but also axes are actually good weapons for pretty much everything that isn't resistant to slash. This is especially true early game.

And a special tip for the swamp biome: If you get attacked by something that looks like a tree wants to bury your bones and sit on the spot - axe it as any other tree
(but mind that this one is more actively engaged in their crushing desire to sit on you)

But how I keep that campfires with fire (without using resin/gum)

Torches use resin. Campfires use wood, so you can put down campfires instead.

For mining ore, dig deep. There's more ore underground, and monsters have trouble dealing with steep cliffs.

For base design, build a wall. A good perimeter fence is a few hundred wood and easy to expand (100% refund).

For deep exploration, start with black forest caverns. The loot is very useful.

If you're going to be in the area for awhile, dig a hole and push the greys into it. They don't respawn if they don't die. But they will continue cursing and throwing rocks at you from their pit.

Defending yourself from attacks is how you skill-up to beat the bosses. Later in the game, you will not gather your own wood: you will take it from the greydwarfs, using whatever weapon you want to skill-up on.

When you find a greydwarf nest, mark it and put a portal there if you are using portals. Then when you want wood, resin, rocks or greydwarf eyes, go there and take what you want from your enemies.

I do not know whether this is the "Viking Way." It hypothetically weakens your foes at the same time as you strengthen yourself. 'Pretty sure "take what you need from your enemies (and blow-up the rest of their stuff)" is kind-of universal.

Valheim provides opportunities for this in every biome.

When Valheim adds scorekeeping, "Foes killed x hit points:" should be on the scoreboard.

Meadows has a lot of wood if thats all you need it for. Arrows work very well against trolls, and stop you getting wrecked.

The only thing attacking me are Greylings; which are so weak the moment I get 4-5 points in the club and blocking skills, I can almost kill them by spitting at them.

They're annoying as they attack you when you want to chop trees, but if you make sure you got a shield at your other arm / in your hand, they won't bother you much. Axes kill them even faster as clubs do.

Plus, they're excellent sparring partners to increase your blocking skill. :steamhappy:

So, use them to make yourself better; as at some point you won't even be bothered, by them. All you do is turn around, do a one hit kill and continue chopping trees.

Of course, you could challenge yourself by trying to kill them by having a tree drop on top of their head. :D
