1000 hours with no end in sight!
Valheim has now joined an exclusive group of games in that I've hit 1000 hours played. Only three other games have done that before.
I first got the game on April 17th, 2021, so it's been less than nine months. Needless to say, Valheim has easily been my most played game during that period, and I'm sure it will continue to be as well. There are things, including a boss, that I have yet to even see for the first time as I like to take my time with the game and never rush through things.
I think Valheim has a chance to, VERY eventually, take the spot of my most played game despite that requiring well over 4000 hours clocked. Multiplayer adds a whole new world of fun to an already seemingly endlessly entertaining and fun game, and is something the current #1 game does not have.
I haven't even used a single mod, ever, to spice things up. Vanilla all the way.
Thank you to Iron Gate for this truly magnificent game. I am also sure it will only get better as the Early Access phase continues and eventually ends.

I'm kind of following the same path with staying vanilla. I've also tried to keep away from spoiler videos, etc. Maybe the most oddball thing I've done is kept away from sailing around until I've thoroughly explored, on foot, whatever I can. After 1000 hours I recently built a Karve and crossed a narrow strait and am just now island hopping toward The Elder - yes, I'm still Bronze Age but with a few chests full of Swamp, Mountain and Plains loot from exploring the edges of those biomes. It's pretty cool to feel anxiety, wonder and discovery in a game I paid $20 bucks for months ago

Skyrim, Witcher 3, and Coloring Pixels, in that order. What were the other 1,000 hour games?
How does one put 1000hr into Witcher 3? Even with the 2 expansions, you'll have seen literally everything there is in the game LONG before you get close to those numbers.

Thanks, Draconifors, for this topic.
I bought Valheim with many other good games, including two on OP's 1000 hour list. I could have stopped with Valheim.
I bought and installed a 1T ssd. There are games I haven't downloaded yet. All of them are enticing. None of them is Valheim.

I admire you for maintaining vanilla. I am 500 hours or so and I have to say when you start using mods, some of them massively improve the game and its playability. I have no doubt many of them will end up in the game in due course.

Glad you have found something you have enjoyed so much. I loved Fallout 4 because of the building aspects, and like Valheim too, I just wished there was a combination of the two, without modding. I like the relaxation aspect of Valheim, looking forward to more content though.

I think that the commercial potential of Valheim is big, as the next game for casual players.
I mean, it can be approached as a real passtime game with short playing sessions. It's not like a strategy game, when you don't remember what you were doing last time when you play again a week later. You can just log in, smell the organic scent of mossy forest ground near your lodge, and go hunting, trekking or sailing.
