After the update is now live and rugs/carpets don´t stack anymore, the max Comfort level is now 18.

The title basically. I haven't made any changes to a specific room with 21 comfort, and when I logged in the next day (today), the value dropped to 16.

Tested, and it seems rugs and carpets don't mean individual comfort additions anymore, nor does the darkwood chair do anything next to my stone throne. I assume the brazier gives nothing next to the hearth as well.

Weird, becuase I haven't seen any patch notes describing such comfort system changes since last night. Any thoughts on what happened?

Detailed Patch Notes:
Balancing & Tweaks:
* Mistlands armour and shield recipes rebalanced and durability increased
* Staffs have rebalanced recipes and stats
* Ballista tweaks (Increased fire rate, sound effects added when shooting and losing sight of targets, tweaked targeting behaviour)
* Ballista ammo recipes made cheaper
* Mistlands Seeker event tweaked (It will no longer trigger in Meadows, Swamps, Mountains or Ocean. It will no longer spawn Seeker Soldiers and the amount of Seekers & Broods has been rebalanced)
* Seeker AI tweaks (They should now circulate a bit and not be on the player constantly to give them some time to catch their breath)
* Seeker Soldier and Gjall spawn rate tweaked (Was spawning quite frequently earlier. It’s now much similar to Troll spawns in Black Forest)
* Comfort from different carpets no longer stacks
* Gjall will now only shoot 1 projectile at a time instead of 2
* Hare running speed slightly decreased
* Tetra bait uses Fenring trophy instead of Ulv trophy
* Fish in mountain caves will respawn correctly, and small additional lake added
* Tuna also always takes ocean bait since it is in ocean as well

* Mating hens no longer sound like boars

Also i am pretty sure that chairs/thrones are in the same category for the comfort buff, same with brazier and the hearth. We only get the one that gives more comfort

As a game dev you're not supposed to nerf anything, unless there is an exploit being used or something like it. Since there's no exploit here, this was COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY.
Still, I don't really care because I rarely ever use the comfort system past a basic home, and just build multiple homes to maintain comfort.

That's in the opt-in Public Test currently, not the default game.

Mine is actually 23, but this is before the rug update, if that pops in i think max will be 20 (as there are 4 rugs in the game and if they don‘t stack anymore it should be 3 levels less).
If this applies also to jute carpets (counted as rugs) than max will be 18.

Game just sometimes does this on reload. Always has. Possibly a fireplace or torch went out, a wall got shifted and doesn't think its part of the room anymore. Any number of reasons.

Any single one of those shouldn't cause a drop from 23 to 16, but yeah. For me it's usually the hot tub, but in this case it's the PT update that makes rugs to not stack their comfort effect anymore, just how it works for other furniture "classes". It's a sensible change, but I don't appreciate the loss in duration of the rested bonus much at all.

Depending on what they meant hopefully rugs wont be affected. In the patch notes they say carpets wont stack any longer, there are only 2 carpets, red and blue jute and every thing else is rugs. So it's either going to be a 1 point max comfort reduction or a 5 point reduction depending on whether they mean rugs and carpets or just carpets. Considering that the game is not playable without the rested bonus, and the current max rested bonus is 30 minutes with 23 comfort...a 5 point reduction would be incredibly lame, like you are trying to reduce the fun factor lame.

Just do what everyone else does, if you don't like the change, find a mod to make it how you want it.

I'm sure there is probably something out there to tweak comfort level.

There'll eventually be official updates/content to that end as well. But I'm wondering if they did this essential change little too early.

hardly a loss if you consider that you can easily grab 10 mins of rested in any dungeon. you just need the rocks and wood to make a campfire and chill there for some secs.
