if there is no swam close then its a event.. and those never despawns... I got draugr around my base running around killing pigs greydwarfs deers... and at night when Goblin and skeletons and other Black Forest stuff spawns at night... its war outside my walls... easy looting :)

Raids= where you have built stuff (anywhere in the world)
Events= Everywhere.

I was "hunted" by wolves while sailing on the ocean once. Of course, none of them could get to me but it was still interesting that they thought they thought swimming to me was a good idea lol

As others have said, any raid can happen in any biome.
On a side note you can sandwich the dirt walls between stone walls to hide them. Then just rebuild wall sections as necessary. I usually don't worry about it. Trolls only attack your walls if you hide behind them. Go outside and fight em, or kite em till the event ends and lead em away.

Go to a seed that you haven't killed any bosses on for your building and hanging out. Only boars and necks ever "raid" take your boss items with you!

My intent with this comment was basically to note (if such things are helpful even) that due to how this mechanic works it limits or places some restrictions on building that (for me at least) are not as fun.

I guess I expected to be able to tailor our defenses to the biomes we build-which would allow us much diversity.

We have a dedicated clan server with ppl building all over doing cool things and this mechanic has been disruptive thusfar. We are using valheim as a cool place for us all to get together and build/explore/pve/hangout.

We are not all at the same place in our valheim progression by any means.

How far are you into the game? Which bosses have you killed so far?

Go fight the monsters then. Or build a more respectable fortress wall you would be proud of

LOL......2 bosses thusfar. And I think you are completely missing the point Fzanco...I already know how to dig a moat AND build a wall of dirt. This feedback is more pointing out that its boring AF to keep using ugly dirt walls on every build.

Stone walls are useless as are wood. They are broken very easily by almost everything.

There literally can be troll invasions in the meadow, lol. And yes just build a moat or kill good-er. If you're hanging out in the mountains then I assume draugrs are no problem for you.

You can even find those "swamp ppl" in the meadows. I wouldn't be surprised to see some in the mountains. BTW is it a raid event?

Yes raid event.

Then is normal , raids can be possible even with a little cabin
And there are is abandon ruins in mountain that are defend by skelletons and swamp people too
Im meadows are abandon villages with a lot of swamp people spawners so be careful
Swamp and troll raids can happen in every part of the map when you already killed the 2nd boss and a troll , in a place that have at least 3 buildings ( workbench , bed and another thing , but can be much more thing too , not just that )

Was it a raid? No biome has default protection from raids with mobs from other biomes.
Regardless why you were attacked it is quite possible to build defendable bases without dirt walls. Island bases are great for defence. Ir you could gave some walls made of building parts. Another option is to just kite an attack walzing the, around your base untill the raid is over. Yet another option is to build a small fort next to the base and simply defend that during the raid.
