I use mods all the time, especially for Valheim. When the game updates I wait a bit and then see if my mods have updated too or are likely to be updated in the near future. If not, I get rid of them or look for some thing else that does a similar job.

The devs are not obligated to make sure the game works with mods. Nor should they be. If the game broke and you're using mods, that's all on you.

You do realize that was a link to thread from the Dev's where they stated that they were not changing this aspect of the game, inspite of the numerous requests. In other words, denied the request.

I have to agree; I think that if metal can't go through the portals, then metal shouldn't be able to go through the portals.

I'm wearing metal armor, carrying metal weapons and tools, and have dozens of nails in my pockets... how is that actually different from carrying a few ingots?

I'm cool with playing by the rules of the game... right up to the point where the game itself doesn't.

The fun of speculation. What magic allows the portal to disassemble you and your inventory at ingress and reassemble at egress? Is that magic blocked by a curse placed on certain objects and the curse is lifted by using a forge? Why are dragon eggs and dvergr extractors likewise cursed and nothing (yet) exists to lift it (except some magical mod of course)?

Surtr will not be pleased ....

I did not like portals until I discovered ore can not go through them. I wish they never existed but with the limited inventory, weight, needing repairs, and forgetting to bring something kinda makes them necessary. Without ores going in the portal the cart and boat get regular use. The world size remains to feel massive. It adds logistics and problem solving. The moment of finally making that full set of armor and upgrading it feels that much better knowing the effort it took.

Your subjective assessment that it breaks immersion to move between maps, when many player servers have multiple servers for resource gathering only due to the ecocide that can occur from just one server use only is a bit simplistic to consider. Obviously, one can simply consider moving from one world to another as just another form or portaling of course.

But all in all, the head of the game didnt even want portals and others on the team did(this has been discussed many times before on here and else where) and the compromise was what we have now.

And with regards to mods, for almost every game out there, the onus and responsibility with mods lies first with the mod maker and second with the player's choice to use them. Devs are not beholden to mod makers in other words.

I dont see how its bad design, it forces you to travel, which is a huge part fo the game. Which honestly I think is the point as it makes it more of the viking experience.
