Just consider everything in game a place holder or test of a system.

If you don't want to play an early access game and provide feedback for bugs etc then just wait for the full release of the game.

That's the crux of the issue with a lot of the people on these boards. They want a game for EA price but with the content of a full release.

EA isn't a new concept so I don't understand why everyone is so confused. Literally no other EA game I've played/followed has had a player base this incredibly impatient.

I see that as a testament to just how good the game is. I just hope the devs see it that way as well and don't get frustrated by all the hate and give up at some point.

It would be cool if at some point the trader sold resources we’d unlocked. I’d love to trade all the gold the fulings keep showering me with for iron for my iron beams.

This game is early alpha, given its state i can understand why you expect this particular system to be better. Unfortunately, i doubt this will be updated for a bit yet. They have hinted that our friendly merchant dwarf friend may have some family and friends and more of a selection.

You should read more on the steam forums (news) and maybe just maybe on discord... nothing beats a pointy stick in the ( fill the blanks in ) blank blank. ;)

The only thing on I can find on Steam also says -

"That being said, we would like to share some of the upcoming Hearth & Home content here. This is by no means a complete list but a taste of what’s cooking."

Yes, the Trader needs more work.
All you need from the Haldor the Trader is the Meningjord (belt), the Dverger Circlet (headlamp), the fishing rod + bait and 5x Ymir flesh in order to craft Frostner.
Those items are very useful, but after that, there is really little need to visit him at all. In fact, I have tons and tons of 'treasure' that is practically worthless, but I keep it all, just in case the Trader gets a larger stock of more items for trade as the game develops.

However, that doesn't mean the game is lacking since there is plenty more for you to do and you're not even half way through the current content if you're still in the bronze age.
You are going to have to find many crypts because the need for iron is almost never ending, even in the current end game, so you'll always need to go back and haul more iron out of the swamps even though you're wearing the top end gears. That of course means you'll be sailing in one of several longships you'll have built by then and nothing in the swamp will be of any bother to you either, so it really won't be much of a chore ;)
