Is this game fun solo?
I want to get this game but I have no desire to play with other players. My IRL friends arent the gaming type and I dont want to try and play with strangers. Is there enough in this game to be fun as a solo player. Are there NPCs? Thanks

This is a nice chill game for playing solo. It is nice having friends though in this sort of game but it's not needed.

Everytime I tried to play solo I got bored.
Thanks. Any chance you can elaborate? Why do you get bored?
I play 95% of my games solo. But only games that were meant to be played solo. If I play a game clearly meant to be multiplayer then playing it alone is boring.
*Feels lonely solo
*To much to do for 1 person, unless you have nothing else IRL to do
*noone to talk to
*noone to adventure with
*its a huge game

I've played solo the whole time, 500+ hours. Still one of my favorite games.

This has been fun for me since the early days of prealpha, and still playing.
Some people may get bored in solo if you are used to hand holding PVE Quests, even that in here has pointers, but works more along the lines of discovery as you find things.
ie. you find your first neck tail, oh I can cook that and so on.
I suppose it comes down to what you find as fun.
For me, it has a bit of everything, create what I want where I want, discover new things in each Biome as I progress through. If I wanted to, I can even make it a server, although I would need to start a new map for this or invite my friends to join my world

It really depends on you. Are you a social player or do you enjoy any games solo? Have you played any crafting type games?
I've played mostly solo and I've enjoyed it. Much of the enjoyment of any crafting game solo is figuring things out. If you want to land running and not die and make mistakes then it might not be a good solo game. I don't even look at helps or guides unless something really has me stumped. Do you enjoy figuring out the mechanics of the game and how to survive with them?
If you have a crew of friends I think it could be fun or even a controlled PVP setup. Often on a crafting game multi player ends up being a griefing contest. Plays have done what can be done and all that is left is to mess with other players. I had enjoyed Rust when it first came out but I abandoned it fairly soon because solo was ok but wasn't particularly great. Multi had people with auto weapons killing you when you have a rock.
A plus for Valheim is that you can turn your PVP on or off and protect areas (your base) with a build item. I would guess that due to this you could find MP servers that were enjoyable. I believe there is a discussion with people looking for players.
You could also do a mix. Your player moves between worlds but you could have you solo world and then go do MP worlds.

I enjoy the game equally solo and with friends, it's just a different vibe. More able hands can make large construction projects go faster, but that only matters if you're in the "hurry up and git 'er done" frame of mind. I enjoy the beauty of the game, and a general sense of accomplishment without relying upon others. Neither of those require another person around to appreciate, but for some no social interaction may be a deal-breaker.

I really love to play it solo, it takes more work to grind some stuff but the good part is that you can do it as you want. It depends on the type of player that you are, some ppl really can't play it solo

Only one NPC, which is the merchant. All else are the various types of creatures. I have only played solo, and clocked up around 400 hours so far. So it has been fun for me. Whether it would be fun for you depends on your tastes.

Depends how much enjoyment you get out of doing things for yourself. There's plenty of monsters to kill, several bosses to defeat, biomes to explore, a decent building system for making structures and bases. I've found it to be pretty fun, and I'm currently in the middle of making another run through the entire game solo.
Mods can also help shake things up, or get rid of little things that you might find annoying (I'm looking at you, no-teleporting-metals-through-portals).

If you're the type of player who likes SP games, can devote a fair amount of time to the game and don't mind doing so, single player can be fun.
There's plenty to do.
You're going to want to enjoy building, farming (like crops), as well as mining and chopping and hunting and sailing and fishing, etc.
Co-op makes progression much faster. More fun? well that depends more on the people than the game I'd say.
NPC's are limited...unless you count Greylings. There's plenty of those that like to tap you on the shoulder and ask for a light when you're chopping trees.

Yes, it is fun though the games enjoyment is greatly increased with others if with strangers so long as they are not trolls. There are npcs but super late into the game so it's not really worth thinking about. If you like building and have a great sense of adventure you may not get bored. Or you will.
