Definitely don't mine at night spawns are ungodly trollish in the black forest. Also Campfires and benches prevent spawns so if you make enough fires you might stop them

also they are a great way to level you weapon skill once you are more established. I kinda like them now and my Axe skill at level 54 because of them.

Clear the area first, then mine. Or dig a trench around the copper node and they can't reach you.

Maybe they did that because they figure you(the player) will probably die a lot and this is how they help you rebuild up skills you lost to death. Otherwise I don't know.

Thanks for he suggestions. It's a survival game so i wouldn't want to be left alone but I clear for a wide perimeter then start mining and its like they keep spawning and coming to me. That would be fine also because it'd be more realism, them being drawn to the sound but sometimes it is really too much. Sometimes it's not that bad but it should be worse at night then it is in the daytime.

Build a wall around it.

If you build a large perimeter wall that basically blocks off sight, they will hear the noise but ignore what they cannot see.
