Trailership

This can be spawned from Console commands, when I was spawning a ship in.. I saw something called.. "Trailership"
When I spawned it in, the textures weren't working properly, You could sit in the seat next to the rudder, when looking down, there wasn't ANY texture at all, all you could see was the ocean at the bottom, Could a dev talk to me what the concept of the "Trailership" was?

IMACHEATER has been depreciated. The new command is: devcommands

That reminds me of the subnautica below zero situation where the devs removed the ability to use cheats to spawn seamoth vehicle (because it wasn't intended to be in the game since they wanted us to use their newly developed.. inferior seatruck thingy) but forgot some code so we could use console cheats to spawn a texture less vehicle for a small period of time. It was hilarious and quite sad to be honest.

Seems to be a unity thing again huh.

Would be nice to know if that trailership here is an early .. trashed concept or some real thing for later.

Considering it's title, I would guess this was intended to be used in trailers for the game. They probably decided it was too busy with the overhead tarp and the boxes.

When I was looking at it again, it almost seems like a QOL upgrade intended for the longship. It was effectively the exact same size as the longship which leads me to believe it is not actually a new ship at all. To my thinking, the various bits and pieces seem like they could be added to your longship.

The 'invisible shields' on the side for instance could be a ghost for shield placement on the gunnels of your longship to personalize it.

The tarp could possibly provide some shelter in case you use your ship as a mobile base.

The lantern is obviously for light, but perhaps it will provide warmth as well?

The boxes and crates could indicate storage expansion (I would LOVE to be able to just craft those in-game for scenic clutter) for the hold of your longship.

I'm assuming that "Trailer" indicates the model is intended for use in a trailer for some future update.

This is, of course, all just speculation.

Yeah wowzer that sounds to nice to not have in a game like this. I always fell like I need a light while I sail solo. Dark nights are nice and all but in the middle of the ocean or near a shore dodging terrain.. argh.

Now if we could get a skiff we could tether to our longship, that'd be nice. Leave the longship away from shore, take the skiff in. It'd even be historically accurate; most large vessels had a skiff either on them or trailing them (if the ship wasn't big enough to actually have the skiff on it).

This is the best and immersive solution to the " damn my boat gets attacked by freaking everything in the water while I build my base" problem.

I would dig the mod doing that.
