Distance for Breeding.
Approximately how close do you have to be for your animals to breed / grow up, assuming you have to be "within" a certain distance??
I found a nice spot that is part meadow / plains that I can set up my base and off in the distance a bit is a Rock Pillar I want to use as my Breeding site (Lox and possible Boars and wolves). If I can see the rock pillar(s) am I close enough for the breeders to do their thing??
What I'm hoping is to be at my camp, farming, crafting and other stuff while the breeders are doing their thing, but not have the breeders so close that they are attacked by "flyers" (bats and drakes) during an event.
Thanks.

If i build pens 3 x 3, and keep pens 3 x 3 between them... they all seem to have thier 3 babies.

Read: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Zones
It is complicated by the inability to easily (without console commands) figure out where the zone borders are. Worst case you have 128 meters, best case 271 meters.
Figuring distance is.. a bit of a pain. On medium settings a 2x2 tile wall will render in (show up) at about 100 meters.
What I do is exploit the 'rule of 3 and 40' for event triggering. Also on that wiki you'll find a list of base structures, if you can guarantee that you will not be within 40 meters of three of them at any time, you don't need to worry about raids (except for the non-base raids - also on the wiki).
What I normally do is place a workbench and a portal 20 meters away. Build your farm/ranch within the overlapping 20 meter radius circles around those two structures. Recommend doing crop farming, beehives, and ranching all at the same place(s). Surround the area with a tree farm. This gives you plenty of time doing crop, bee, and tree chores for the pets to breed (just be sure and feed them on first arrival).
