the game gets one update a year and its not worth it. its an amazing game and well worth the play but dont worry about updates

The game is about as deep as a puddle and as wide as one too, but there are a lot of mods available to extend gameplay quite a bit.

yeah, Mistlands was promised this year, then it turned into, oh no, maybe we will release experimental Mistlands update this year, and then MAYBE we will release stable Mistlands, but it depends on bugs..

same BS excuse they made way back in the beginning, after promising content, and then taking a year or so to do anything at all.

so, I wouldn't get my hopes up for content if I was you. if you enjoy just building and messing around, you will get hundreds of hours out of what we have so far. in terms of content, maybe 50hrs, if even that

I'd say absolutely worth it, but it's worth bearing in mind updates are released sparsely and very slowly. However, it seems the quality, thought and soul is always there despite the time frame. Though these aspects aren't inherently mutually exclusive with one another.

For example, if you're into ASOIAF and can't bear waiting 10 yrs for a sequel - but the journey there is gold, this has similar vibes.

Look at is as it, for all we know they might abandon it, anything can happen during early access BUT it's fun, great alone or with coop and free from the plague of practices which mire 'modern gaming'. Enjoyed my time with it absolutely.

Edit: Also keep in mind what you feel comfortable endorsing with the money one gives, reflect on the company and the product and come to a conclusion you're comfortable with

me and my bf just bought this game. its awesome but the boss monster is annoying as heck. it wouldnt stop chasing, so we gotta outsmart the creature

IDK what people expect... I saw that first store page video and you see the environment and creatures etc... it's all in the game already!

Why bother about thinking about what might get added? They may add nothing more, that is a fact. Game is still worth it as it is. The only question is if you want to wait to play it before it is "done" and may never be "done".

Even if they shut down today.... would you deny yourself the pleasure of playing the game for what it is today just because they didn't "finish" it?

It is a small team and they work very slow. As of right now they are actively working on the next large update.

The parts of the game that has released feels complete so surviving in a Viking world progressing from meadows - forest - mountain - plains is very satisfying and you will definitely get you moneys worth. Especially if you like survival base building.

However right now there is no end, you just stop progressing so on a play through you will eventually go "well, guess I'm done" no true ending. To me that's fine as there is no great story here anyway.

If you are concerned that they may not finish the game. They might not, it is early access and thus no guarantees. But Coffee Stain is the publisher and with their name attached I doubt that it would just be abandoned.

My wife and I played together for 100+ hours and I continued playing well beyond that. Highly recommend to play with friends/spouses. :) It is a fantastic game, also highly moddable once you get bored of the base game.

Which is blatantly wrong. You might not like the speed of content updates, but they have been delivered, and are worked upon.

Only buy the game in Early Access if you think it is worth the money now.

DO NOT purchase the game on what MAY happen in the future.

If you don't think there is enough now then just don't buy. Keep in mind when the game is done it may even go up in price. So the choice is yours.

You already have the game so it should not be difficult for you to decide for yourself if it is worth it to you.

Me and my gf got around 500 hours of content out of the current build.
Though we do spend a lot of time messing around with building bases and gathering stuff, if that's not your thing, your hours may be cut in half at the very least.

The game is amazing as it is, but the updates are slow because they are a small studio who just happened to stumble on massive success. So a lot of the community treats them like AAA devs and expect large rapid updates.

Though I can tell you that the developers care about this game and the community a lot and will 100% see it through to final release.

I wouldn't expect further major content after final release though as this is not sold as a service, but rather a game.

The game is also very modable, and with thunderstore mod manager or vortex, it should be rather easy to do.

I have only used thunderstore, and thats pretty easy to use.

Looks like threads discussing updates are getting silenced. Even the megathreads that all similar threads are supposed to be merged into lol. I keep coming back every few months to see if this game is worth buying yet but seeing stuff like this just reminds me why not to.
