Wolves shouldn't be tameable.
Wolves are too overpowered they shouldn't be tamable and they breed too much. At least the starred wolves but even the normal ones are OP. They make the game a joke.

It's very easy to not tame them. At least I've had no problem avoiding taming wolves with zero effort.
