doable sure, if you're down for sinking dozens of hours into exploring with no idea of what your looking for. I explored 10 mountains before finding the moder tablet. that took almost 2 months of on/off playing because it's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring solo. you don't move fast enough on water, and what do you know, soon as you kill the effing dragon, it's BACK to the swamps for more iron than you can even FIND. Why not use black iron? because ♥♥♥♥ YOU thats why.

Vanilla solo, can confirm, and way more fun than cheating, how to describe the feeling of docking a longship with a hold full of ore at your refinery base, knowing you've had your kilns pumping out coal, and you finally get to do the last upgrade on your black metal pick?

Very doable solo. For any situation that you think is not doable, or fun, or challenging, there are mods.

Almost all of my time in the game is solo. It's definitely fun and challenging but not overwhelming. (Just don't die on the open ocean without having the materials ready to build a 2nd boat right away).

Its well balanced this way. The things you can't do well solo are few, such as having a boat driver working with a gunner (using a bow & arrows etc) or pushing a wheelbarrow behind someone making a road. This is very minor stuff. The flipside is that groups consume an aggravating amount of food and metal, making a group's gear up much more effort -- you can argue that each person doing their part isn't any different from solo but the catch is that some resources are geographically limited at least at first, so you have to branch out farther to get enough for all, which may add quite a bit of effort.

I mostly play solo. Totally doable. I have a lot of fun with it.
Fun to play with friends, too, don't get me wrong. But I never feel like I have to wait for others. I enjoy exploring and taking on the various challenges solo.

Very doable. When in doubt, the hoe and pick ax are your friends.
