Are we ever getting a fix for walking over Campfires and Hearths?
Every single time i accidentally walk over one of these they just start exploding under my feet and doing dammage to the structure, its annoying as hell when i try to integrate them neatly into my house and end up having to walk over their edges to retrieve food from the cooking stations, only for them to start loudly banging and receiving dammage, its been like this for ages now

Uhhh.
1. Try placing your cooking racks closer to the end you are going to stand on. When you click on them to get the cooked meat it will automatically go into your inventory (if you've also spaced the racks out to allow the meat to come between them).
2. Stop walking into the fire. It's not a "bug"; it's by design because people generally should not walk into an open fire, and if they do, they get burned and sometimes light other things nearby on fire. The "loud banging" is like a thump on the head saying, "stop walking into the fire".

So what you're saying is, don't put the cooking racks over the fire, and that the constant exploding noises under my feet are a "feature of the game" right, it was not like this at launch, and it makes no sense, and is definitely not a "feature of the game" its an annoyance that makes it harder than it needs to be to cook food, especially with hearths Uhhh.

As far as I know, that was added on purpose so people can't use them as indestructible damage dealers in boss fights etc.
I've had good results with enclosing them in half height walls. Cooking & fueling still works, and neither me nor my livestock walk into the flames.

The "exploding sound" most likely comes from a ward that makes this sound when one of the structures in its range gets damaged.
Stomping on a fire is one way to put it out, so why shouldn't fires take damage from walking on them in valheim?
If your cooked food ends up in the fire you just have to find a better place for your cooking station.

I have absolutely NO problem cooking with campfires or hearths. I place 4 racks across the small hearth, evenly spaced where the "front" legs are as far forward as possible. Yes, the racks are OVER the fire. That way when I stand in FRONT of it while cooking, the food comes right off the racks and into my inventory. If your hearth's edges are well above the surrounding ground level, put steps where you plan to stand so you don't have to jump up ON the hearth to get close enough to get your food, but not get burned. I have been burned ONCE when I first started playing.
Yes the sound is there to let the player KNOW that they are being damaged by fire. If it wasn't that way in the beginning, it's probably because someone whined about dying while cooking food and couldn't figure out why.

If that's the case why not let enemies and npc deal the dammage when they walk over them? why do us players have to suffer an inconvenience because of something as niche as using fires to deal dmg to bosses, like what, it just needlessly restricts how you can build with them, i like making them a part of the floor so it goes flush with the flooring and looks nice, but now i need a repair bench nearby to keep repearing it each time i decide to get a little closer to pick up my food As far as I know, that was added on purpose so people can't use them as indestructible damage dealers in boss fights etc.

There is no ward, its a loud as hell thumping/exploding sound when i stand on its edges that ticks its health down until it gets destroyed if i don't get off, and i don't see how a litterall stone hearth should start breaking because im standing on its STONE rim to retrieve food from it The "exploding sound" most likely comes from a ward that makes this sound when one of the structures in its range gets damaged.

I am not being damaged by the fire, im standing on the edge of the hearth, i put way more than 4 racks across the hearth because i don't like spending a year to cook food on it, and stairs would still do nothing as the second i step on the edge of the hearth it starts ticking down its health and breaking, i have no idea why you are trying to imply that this is good game design when it is just plainly annoying to deal with and a bad fix if it was indeed implemented because people were walking into fires, i'd ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ notice if i was on fire and taking dmg I have absolutely NO problem cooking with campfires or hearths. On the large hearth, obviously you can put a lot more... I was referring to the small hearth. If you are putting too many racks across either one due to laziness, then that might be part of your problem.... try spacing them out SLIGHTLY more so the meat can come up to you between them. If you do this, you do NOT need to stand ON the hearth to get the food... it will come to you.
There's no reason to start cussing. This is a very simple solution to your problem, but if you choose to just keep doing the same thing over and over that you know DOESN'T work, then that's on you. Learn NOT to stand so close... jesus.... it's really THAT simple.

You are arguing that you posted the solution to the problem, when the problem is a bug that makes a core part of the game more annoying to do, and now you're being condescending ontop of that, i shouldn't need a fishing rod to get my food off the cooking racks, stop defending a bug lmao On the large hearth, obviously you can put a lot more... I think we will get a fix for this problem. Probably right after Iron Gate Studio fixes the problem of vikings stepping over the edges of cliffs and swimming too far away from shore to return to land alive.
In the meantime, I try to pay attention to what I am doing in the game.

Because standing on the edge of a fireplace to retrieve food is comparable to walking off cliffs, and walking into the ocean, yeah okay comedian I think we will get a fix for this problem.
