Good mods for Valheim?

I haven't played this game for ages, and am curious as to which mods are the best ones to enhance the game experience at this time. I'm not a vanilla purist at all, usually running hundreds of mods simultaneously on games like RW, Kenshi, FO, Skyrim, PZ, Starsector, Bannerlord and so on.

I already tried two different slope combat fix mods but both spammed the console with some "zero vector"(?) messages.
This slowed the game down and makes the logs useless.

I didn't see ValheimRecycle mentioned yet. It allows you to downgrade and destroy items to get back 0 to 100% (configurable) of the materials used for upgrading or crafting it.

I run only five mods, one of them BepInEx.

PlantEverything, that recycle mod, NoCultivatorDust (self-explanatory), and Custom_Raids (got tired of raids after well over 1600 hours, but disabling raids is only one of the things the mod can do).

All of these are on Thunderstore.

First, I'd recommend "Official_BepInEx_ConfigurationManager," which will allow you to adjust the configuration of all mods in a menu by pressing F1. Will help a lot as you learn what you do and don't want with certain monds.

I'm partial to AzuCraftyBoxes so I don't have to go rummaging through all my boxes (several times when I realize I forgot some things). There's also some mods that let you craft more quickly (which can be a good thing when you're crafting stacks of food and such), but I don't use them, so don't know what the names were, hah.

For extra build pieces, I'd recommend OdinArchitect. (It optionally adds a few pieces that can give you fish bait, feathers, etc., but you can turn those off in the Configuration.) It's got some great lighting options, bigger wall/floor pieces, and even some drawbridges. It requires you craft another type of hammer, and you use that hammer to craft the additional pieces. (That way, your normal build list doesn't get cluttered.)

ComfortTweaks is great for extending comfort range and has a lot of other options as well. I HAVE noticed that this mod can be a little finnicky sometimes; if you don't open the Configuration with F1, for example, some of the settings sometimes don't take effect. Still, great mod overall.

If you want to include berries and such in farming, I would say go with PlantEverything. (I don't like the idea of being able to plant stuff we're not meant to, so I haven't used it and can't vouch for it, but I have friends that swear by it.) I like MassFarming that allows you to plant a large grid with a single click, and harvest a large area by holding down CTRL while pressing E over a crop.

Saving building blueprints comes under PlanBuild, a very awesome tool that allows you to make a building and save that blueprint for use elsewhere. You can even build in one world and deploy it in another (which is what I'm actually doing at the moment). It also has some great terrain management tools, like flattening the land in a wide area for the placement of your buildings.

Some other ones you could take a lok at are:
- AdventureBackpacks for carrying around stuffs
- AutoRepair which allows you to repair everything just by interacting with a bench instead of having to click the hammer for each item
- AzuExtendedPlayerInventory which can give a dedicated row for equipment, gives quickslots, and can even extend the number of rows you have available if you configure it to do so
- BetterCarts (if you play with friends)
- BetterNetworking (if you play with friends)
- Shield_Auto_Equip
- ShowContainerContents to see what's in your chest without having to open it
- SmarterContainers to drop stuff into a nearby chest if it already contains those items
- SpeedyPaths to make paths and paved roads made with the Hoe actually useful
- TransparentSail to keep that thing from blocking your view
- TuneYourZoom if you want to be able to zoom out really far (great for sailing long distnaces)

All of these are on the Thunderstore.io site, and I recommend the "r2modman" Mod Manager to use that site to it's fullest. (It will let you one-click install and one-click update mods, and will let you easily enable/disable mod, uninstall them, create different profiles, and more).

I've probably got a few more recommendations that I'll throw in here, will have to take a look through my profiles, but this should be enough to whet your appetite for now.

All the suggestions for mods are great. I thought that I'd describe what I do for chest management (without mods). I often double stack chests (little piece of flooring in between) and above that I place two signs, one representing each chest. In between double stacks I set up a standing torch to illuminate things. Husband and I have a pretty organized area. We should call it Fort Martha Stewart :D

Too many mods to name. Somebody already linked a great video to watch, so I’ll simply add that you look for one that allows you to adjust animal taming.

I don’t like waiting 500 hours for an animal to be tamed like in Ark, so I set it to 2 minutes.

It really depends on what you want from the mods. There's QoL mods that help with inventory management or gardening or building and more, there's mods that add new build pieces, mods that add extra content for unfinished biomes, mods to add unique features for equipment... All kinds of stuff, and they all "enhance the game experience" more or less.

It really heavily depends on what exactly you want to do and how you want to play. Do you want to remove Mist? Do you want to auto-store items to chests? Auto-equip shields when using one-handed weapons? Save build plans for rapid reconstruction elsewhere? Craft without items in your inventory as long as they're in nearby chests? Add Backpacks? Automatically fuel your lighting sources? Extend your comfort range? Add a clock?

I already keep an open area for sundials to help with the timekeeping, so that's not a big issue. I value immersion over contemporary standards of tool-dependency.
That being said, streamlining the crafting experience sounds good, as melting can be a chore, and anything that might add *some* new build pieces to fill in the gaps in vanilla would be ok too I guess, but I don't want to go overboard with custom build pieces.
I certainly wouldn't mind extending the comfort range, so I didn't have to restrict myself so much as to where I place the furnishings that add comfort.
Expanding farming to include berries and other normally not-farmable plants too.
Saving building blueprints for later reconstruction? Hell yeah! Ideally if it works retroactively on already constructed buildings though, as I have villages worth of original constructions.

I'll probably start small with a few essential mods, then add more mods along the way when I get more acquainted with the different mods, and when they add something that enhance the experience in a meaningful way to me. For now though, I just want a starting point with a few essentials addressing some of the things I outlined above without going through a back-catalogue of mods from the 1850s that worked when my ancestors viewed the world through black-and-white-tinted lenses, but mods that work with the current game version.

FogDisabler is good... when it works. It's a bit iffy, but it's kept my usual helmsmen from crashing into beaches on the plains a few times.

Not to be confused with MistBeGone, which gets rid of the Mistlands mist.

Server_devcommands is great if you play with friends and want to give them access to devcommands.

FuelEternal is nice when you don't want to spend time refilling all of your torches, campfires, etc.

JewelCrafting OR EpicLoot (not both) are good additions if you want to add functions to equipment, but can make things a bit too easy (especially EpicLoot).

To counter the extra ability from the above, you could try CreatureLevelAndLootCOntrol which can spawn mods with more than two stars (even creatures that normally are not starred, like Loxen and Serpents).

I know you mentioned having sundials, but AzuClock I find pretty handy; you can configure the time to be "fuzzy" (like "Late Afternoon") and for it to specify the Day as well (if you tend to forget, like me).

"Cats" is a mod that adds fuzzy furballs that basically do nothing, just like in real life. I mean, I hear they can fight for you, but I'd rather (as a Viking) throw them at enemies...

OdinShip adds a few decorative items, some new ships, and an "Oil Extractor" that lets you squeeze a bunch of fish for some temporary extra carry weight.

If you're not really interested in these, at least they can give you a good idea of what some mods are capable of doing.

I play with

TargetPortal so I don't need a gigantic portal hub to travel in the world
PlantEverything because I like how it helps you build nice landscaping
FuelEternal because I don't want to refill my fires/torches on big builds
EquipmentAndQuickSlots because it cleans up my inventory by moving clothing to a different panel
AzuClock it's nice to know what time it is
FarmGrid and MassFraming to easily plant things
More_Gates to have access to more windows/gates/drawbridges/etc
CraftFromContainers so I can build stuff without moving mats in my inventory

Most of these are QoL, with maybe the exception of TargetPortal which modifies a game mechanic.

This video goes over some pretty interesting/wild mods: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHvOJmUA2rU
