How are you preparing for Ashland?

I know, I know, we probably won't see it until 2025 or something, but are you preparing for Ashland?

Is there a resource you're stockpiling? Are you trying to build an outpost, or even a base close to the Ashland area?

If it really takes them 2 years to make a new biome I will probably be long gone.

I actually think we'll see the Ashlands before the end of the year. Maybe not on the retail branch, but on Public test.

I've already done all my preprations, I established my main base central-southern in some plains, with a straight sailing voyage to Ashlands. I've leveled all combat skills (Except spear lol) to 50 or higher, and Both magic skills to 70. I even got the fishing hat, bringing my total fishing skill to 70, which makes hauling in massive amounts of Angler Fish for Fish'n'bread a snap.

I'm preparing in two ways:

1) I'm not going South as much as possible, as I don't want to botch the world I'm at now.

2) I'm taking the time to do a lot of building on the world as I have it now, as building takes time, and there might not be a lot of time to do it once the new adventures open up.

I imagine the magic system will be expanded upon which means refined Eitr will likely be needed for future weapons and armor. I also think it's possible that the next weapon and armor sets will use black metal and finally get away from needing iron for so much. so hording a bit of the green black stuff might be a good idea too. honestly tho, it's gonna be at least a year before it even becomes an issue so we probably shouldn't worry about it now.

+1 to this. I like to start a new seed when major updates come out so we'll be starting from 0.

Well Ashlands are already in the game currently. Seems they are all about what the name would suggest fire. So that said wood burns so no go stone. That werewolf type creature in the mountains has hide armor that is fire resistant. Good set to have on the ready. Currently they are already a great place to get cores. That is if you are fast on your feet.

I'll start a new world and character when it's released like I do with every new update.

I suppose you could get more flametal (or whaterver it is), but even then, why? I don't see the point in grinding in the current update so that I can reduce my time after the update, unless I'm assuming upfront that the update is going to be so bad that I just want to get through it.

im thinking they added a lot of certain things to the game so far to prepare us for it when it comes, because it's gonna be a hassle.

fire mobs attacking your base, ooh yeah.

I haven't fought the queen in my main world, so I don't have to worry about that. In fact, I don't plan on fighting the queen in any world until the next biome comes out, since it doesn't give you anything, but maybe I will to see what it's like. I would prefer to save it for entrance into ashlands, though.

Staying in my current seed, upgrading skill levels (especially blood and elemental magic) and seeing how much of my seed I can explore. New building techniques and, yes, other games.

Wood.

Can never have enough wood. Or stone. Or food. Or tools. Or coal. Or metal. Or outposts. Or fortresses. Or farms. Or mead.

Especially the mead.

No idea what to expect with the Ashlands update. But for now I prepare for the biome by having a lot of empty iventory slots because I farm coal there at night. My outpost being but a portal on a spit of land on the coast will suffice for now.
