will ashlands be reworked to be entirely surrounded by water? spoiler

both ashlands and deep north today are mostly islands but can also have adjoining biomes that are past the cutoff line. in other words, you can sail to black forest, and walk across the dividing line into ashlands today, depending on your seed.

with the reveal this week that ashlands will gate-keep access with a water enemy, does this mean they will be reworked to no longer connect to other biomes? otherwise, you could avoid the water enemy by using a land bridger to get there.

also makes you wonder how the queen's drop will affect gate-keeping. maybe it repels or distracts the new serpents.

its clearly a serpent that guards the ashlands shores. the spoiler literally says that.

but the concept does not tell you about its size at all. consider that. just because the design if similar doesnt mean the size is keep that in mind. and it beeing ashland waters only well. i somehow doubt that they can be the same size given ashland waters simply arent large enough very often to spawn such big enemies commonly.

imagine thinking that an enemy which is drawn to have a body and tail that doesnt even fit in the frame is small. or tendrils with lights on the end. if the enemy were the size of a leech, those lights would be smaller than a pixel.

If you mean the concept art of bonemaw variant of serpent, I doubt it's intended to completely block access to the biome. So I don't think they are going to make any landmass changes like that. It could ruin someone's base too.

They might present a challenge to bringing heavy cargo away from the south, though.

you overthink the new enemy type. they said its only found in ashlands waters. what does this sound the most familiar with ? its not the serpent. its the LEECHES. so this thing might be smaller than you think currently.

plus we hopefully get a bigger boat by then aswell. its about time to get a ship upgrade anyway. deep north is too late for that.

the ashlands wont be redesigned. your current seed will generate ashlands randomly in unexplored areas for you. if you explored everywhere already youre ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and must start a fresh seed to get ashlands.

i am not sure how they will get spread out.

now for the DEEP NORTH it wouldnt make much sense to spread accross the map simply given its NAME suggestes it staying there for this very reason. unless they rename it completly.

My crystal ball is showing only murkiness.
No one in this forum knows anything, nope, nada, nuthin. This is a steam forum, you might get more information from their discord chats or reddit even. It's EA, so no matter what they have done in the past, it may not be the same in the future. One of these days they may even do a complete wipe. So, though we all have opinions, in this case they are just that...

I think he was saying that the new creature will be to the ashlands what the leeches are to the swamp biome. Not that it actually IS the leeches.

Maybe for the new biomes, but all the early access updates have gone pretty smoothly in my experience, I can't see any need for a full wipe.

they might force a seed restart but your character skills and gear will stay with you for good.

however the new difficulty modes might FORCE a reset in the end to not be easy to abuse. depends on how they implement them of course.
