Laptop shut down while playing

I dont know how it happened but even the my power plugged in, my Laptop somehow managed to drain it's battery and shut down while playing. I had just created multiple smelters and furnaces and I guess it was too much to process after hours of playing and the whole thing shut off. My battery pack was so hot I had to disconnect it from the electrical outlet just out of fear it would explode or something.

Yes, this, check how much watt your laptop is using. Then check your charger, if it isn't enough well you got your problem. If that is not the case, then you laptop has issues.

Laptops are absolute ♥♥♥♥ at cooling themselves, which is why it's not recommended to game on one without a laptop cooler, and even then heat is still an issue.

I don't know man. Some of those newer laptops have some pretty beefy cooling. Bought my wife a Lenovo Legion 5 the other day so she'd have a gaming laptop while out of town and was very impressed with its cooling set up. Two large bottom intakes and 4 large side exhausts.

What does concern me is the 230w passively cooled power brick. I warned her to make sure it was in a well ventilated spot while gaming on it. Might design and 3d print her a stand for it to help with natural airflow.

All that said, yeah laptop cooling is going to be totally dependent on the model though that Legion 5 has made me reconsider my generally negative view of gaming laptops.

Not necessarily. Some laptops ship with power supplies that cannot actually provide for peak demand, so can actually drain the battery even when plugged in.
