No, just because of what is implied with catching angler, you need to catch the previous biomes fish to make the bait...and to catch that fish you need to catch the previous biomes fish to make the bait...and to catch that fish you need to catch the previous biomes fish to make the bait. You will need to do this each time you run out of bait.

So you're spending days just catching fish just to make bait, when you could just farm and kill some things and be ready in a fraction of the time. If they added more types of fish food along the way to angler, or heck, let you craft more fish n bread based off the level of the Angler, I could see fishing being worth it. As iis however, it's a meme.

If you can consistently find a way to make them wash up to shore with a trap, you could do that, but that also implies waiting around doing nothing in the Mistlands staying within render distance so that can happen.

Consider it a trophy if anything putting it onto an item display on your table, the game isn't endless so if you aren't yet ready to leave your world and all bosses have been defeated you can go on a fishing quest to catch them all, alongside collecting creature trophies it's one of the few things you can do aside finishing the game.

The bait is too much effort, otherwise it's fine.

I’d make 1-2 for when you fight the queen, otherwise, don’t bother. Salad is good enough and way cheaper to make.

Fishing feels like a pain right now. I shouldn't have anything that changes AI behavior, but a lot of the time the fish don't/take forever to bite or get stuck in the water.

Boat is better than shore. Fishing vs farming, farming is also quite tedious so I guess it's pick your poison.

I think too that the whole fishing system is way to complex to be worth the effort.

I might have followed the fishing progression out of interest had fish not jumped constantly in my face begging me to eat them. They shouldn't have made the change until it was ready to be worth doing, now it's completely ruined forever.

Or just build a wharf, a single stack of wood gets you closer to the fish. Bonus, some might just jump up on the wharf to be picked up.

Probably not. The biggest thing this dish does for you ... is let you fish better.
salad is almost as good a stamina food and can be made in bulk with near 0 effort.
