The game cant start itself

this is usually an issue with steam, when a game closes, sometimes steam will latch the process to something else your running and treat it as though the game is that application.

probably not the same case but some games that open your web browser from within the game will now treat that web browser as part of the game. so even if the main application gets closed, the sub applications steam is attached to now will read as the game. something to be aware of when you open and close stuff, Rimworld does this if you access the wiki from in-game for example.

hmm, havn't had that issue myself yet. but wouldnt put it past it if you run other things that utilize CMD.exe

I'm not really sure if anything I run uses CMD.exe. What I think will prevent it is if I just delete that appcache folder after I log out instead of waiting for it to happen (happens every time).. Annoying to do but I hate to have my computer playing Valheim without me.

When applications start running on their own, you are better off with a thorough viruscheck instead of deleting random folders of what you think is the culprit.
