@GSK Your idea about using it for fishing is really spot on. You should post that to the suggestions tab.

So far it seems most useful for 'transporting' tamed animals and hunting birds (It seems to have a pretty flat trajectory and no risk to lose it like a spear).

Serpents...used to use it to drag yagluth into a hole to fix him during his fight, but they unfortunately took that out. Mostly useless outside of serpents afaik.

Currently seems like a novelty tool, back when you could harpoon bosses you could drag them out to sea or into a hole and just go to town with a bow. You can still use it to get serpent scales from sea serpents but most people seem to dislike the serpent scale shield. (I love it simply because it looks cool and if nothing else can put a few of them up in my den for some sweet feng shui. This also goes for the harpoons themselves.)

There are some niche uses like dragging golems into holes but it isn't the most consistent thing in the world. After spending hours hunting probably close to a hundred golems, I can say that it's usually just not worth the trouble.

It would be nice if they reworked the harpoon to be compatible with fishing or to make it a strong tool like it used to be. Or, at least, give us a few harpoon upgrades so it can be a viable weapon!

I find the stamina rework to be confounding, but apparently it's uasable, It's wall decoration now. Could be very handy in a group setting though. Harpooning drake's really limits their movement so others could attack it easier so could do similar to other enemies with wide movement patterns, that is if you really wanted to punish and humiliate those enemy npcs

Pretty sure it still works... but have not done it since the ice caves for sure.

I use it for an ammo-less ranged weapon for hunting seagulls. Occasionally its useful if you enable PvP to harpoon an ally who fell overboard and you don't want to stop.

Otherwise, its useful in multiplayer to CC a mob that isn't focused on you. You simply hold it back while your ally attacks it while it can't get closer.

I wonder if you could use one to arrange a meeting between a Troll and an Abomination. Not only are those fun to watch, it's pure profit when you kill the winner.

I've used it to move my tamed boars to another location. But somehow never used it for taking on sea serpents, always seemed easier to just lure them close to shore and hit them

Don't even bother trying for serpent scales solo anymore since H&H.. I can grab the trophy from the boat usually.

Honestly, nothing at all anymore.

My brothers and I tried it once for the sea serpent, but after founding out how low level the serpent shield came to be we stopped hunting them for scales and only for meat which floats. So now we either solo, or in groups have someone work the karve or longship and another uses the bow to kill it.
