Depends where you live and the deer state of mind.
Around here the deer are peaceful and play hide and seek with peoples pet cats.
They tend to make a low murmur when speaking to each other almost a mooing type sound.
They have nothing to fear in the area so you don't hear them making "alert" sounds, might be different if I was out in the hunting areas. But never heard a white tail bark like that around here.
Seen an albino one, even had them sneeze... but no barking here.

They do that.

Note how it says "rare" right in the title. Deer don't run around barking constantly, like they do in this game. Deer are extremely quiet most of the time. It's comical to imagine walking through the woods, with deer sounding like that.

The bark in the video isn't like the one in the game.

They also don't respawn every couple of hours like they do in this game. Deer don't run around barking constantly, like they do in this game. Deer are extremely quiet most of the time.
It's very handy when you're on the lookout for skins/meat while running around exploring. It's comical to imagine walking through the woods, with deer sounding like that.
Most of the deer I hunted in this game were spotted by sound. Kinda nice considering how skittish they are, makes sneaking up on them much easier.

Like yourself? While deer can bark, it is only certain species, none of which live in North America or Europe. Some of you do not spend time in nature (IRL) and it shows. LOL

I play with a Custom Audio mod (BepInEx mod) that changes those roe deer sounds (a bit louder).
I'd like if there were actual European red deers in game.

Deer is a fictional creature. They can put whatever fantasy spin on it that they want.
Video above is fake. It is probably a dog.
