when this happens, you can use an exploit in the save files to retrieve your character. just copy paste your character file and load back into the game

If you're willing to cheat, I believe it's possible to fly down and get your stuff. Otherwise, congrats on a teachable moment!

If it's on your private game, go into creative, give yourself god mode and go get it.

Think of these items as tributes. I don't know which Norse god is in charge of the edge of the world, but I'm sure he's a little more pleased now. Maybe you'll get some nice wind going for a little bit if they're feeling generous.
