I expected a welcome party here...

I haven't seen Mistlands yet so please don't spoil anything, and most people here seem very dissapointed with the update.

Can we just get some love in here? What makes you feel good in Valheim? Are you enjoying the new building materials?

Originally was waiting for buds to hop in so I didn't kill any bosses, last time my buds joined my server after Eikthyr, got raided and gave up on the game.

Anyhow they never figured out how to do PTR so I ended up going bossless with my new dude got to the start of the mountains before it went public and was having a blast fighting the new abominations, highlighted by a rumble between a troll and an abomination below my swamp survival blind with all the accompanying wraiths, skeles, leeches, oozes and greydwarves. Finally dropped the log troll and abomination from one tiny little piece of 2x2 floor tile in the corner of what was my floor.

Now that it's public I updated and brought my main over, and geared him up in this new root armour which is fantastic, I'm just starting the mountains with him, been a few deaths of course mainly cause the golems can seriously punt you now and the new stamina is causing me to update my playstyle to be a little less mobile, I rarely dodge roll now and tend to hide behind the shield more waiting on regen. However finally found 4 onion seeds after 5 different mountains so satisfying finally after several dodgy mountain corpse runs, hopefully the onions will help with some stamina.

Time is split now between that game another new dude on a buddies co-op game where they've just downed eikthyr and I'm busy reinforcing a wetlands base in the meadows, cause it's a pretty spot.
abominations are not new, they came out on november 25 2021.

Probably more than a year then, not sure that hearth and home was even out when I last decided to give it an EA break, either way game feels way less forgiving now. Idk if that's a good or bad thing but it's definitely a thing.

You should read a few threads on this forum, too see if it did get less forgiving.
I see alot of posts saying its easier now, and some say its harder.
So i can't tell you its good or bad.

I havent seen the mistlands yet either, little knowledge of whats there. Enjoying my fresh start so far though. I just hope its not nerfed until i can try it out. Even afterwards my opinion wont matter much as my game is modded. Vanilla players id imagine have it very hard depending on how much end game health/stamina is at.
What are peoples health and stamina at when they are using top tier foods for the place?

I love me some Valheim in the same ways already mentioned. Sense of progression. Little details even with old school PS3 graphics. I like the random rain storms and the way the ocean works. Fog at sunrise. Red sunsets.
I haven't visited Mistlands yet. Holding off judgement until I visit. Every new biome feels like a spike in difficulty so I'll expect the worst when going in and prepare as best I can. Started a new seed and building up again.
My big goal is always to build the perfect base, in the perfect spot. I've yet to do that but the building is fun for me. Being able to shape the terrain and level a forest and even replant it is a cool mechanic.
Because I play solo, I also use Valheim Plus and some other mods to make the grind and difficulty suit my tastes. It is great having that option.

I actually love the mist. I like the atmosphere, and had no issues with it. I like the way it slowly retreats from wisplight and fills back in when you leave.

The devergr (dwarves are cool). I felt sorry about killing the few I had to in order to get extractors. They really get the short end of the stick. Seeker soldiers and gjalls can decimate and ruin their bases. They're slowly getting wrecked across the map. I actually stop and help them fight the other mobs now.

The new weapons you get when you finally unlock the black forge... well... they are worth the wait. They really really really really really are. I made the new mistlands polearm last night and I haven't laughed so hard in ages. Yes, thor _would_ approve of it. The sword, the axe, the bow, all have been worth the wait and work.

The black marble building pieces and the spital staircases are nice. Tried today the dvergr lanterns, they look cool, but the light they spend is not bright enough, but you wont need any raisin.

my pal is setting up a server for us <3 going to add the epic loot mod so hopefully that will be fun. ive been playing on a new world just to refresh the game. i just love how comforting your home is when you get back or its night time and scary out. i played 180 hours and never even did the last boss. so excited to fight him and get into the mist lands :) i remember i built a big tree house in the mist lands before it was updated on our old server. dope game i dont really understand people hating on it. the creators should def fix things like craft fishing rod, get rid of that step in the skeleton caves so you cant cheese them. and other random cheeses.

So far loving Mistlands. Difficulty spike is similar to Mountains--> Plains. I'm enjoying the mist mechanics as well.

Well, I’m enjoying the sense of progression.
One of the items you unlock my vastly changes how you explore the mistlands and makes it much easier and is a very useful in general not just specific to one area.

As far as the building materials, I’m still working on the gear, but I definitely looking forward to use the new stuff once I have i farm it.

Emptying the fermenting barrels never gets old for me, and the game also has the peculiar and slightly uncanny ability of making me hungry...

The black marble pillars have a ton of snap point combinations, they are a very useful and flexible addition. Not as good as iron or tar, but entirely within expected parameters for me.

Mistlands is easily the most mysterious of the biomes. I should go out and explore more. Only managed to find one lorestone there so far.

Mistlands is actually a great update full to the brim with new stuff and new mechanics. Most just complain about the mist and that its a little bit more challenging than previous biomes. It takes a while to get your stride there and figure things out but they really have done a great job with it.

I personally haven't played the mistlands part of it yet.
I am starting a new streaming playthrough from the start in a few minutes on my discord group to try out everything again on a new seed ( seed name " sherican " in case anyone wants to try it)

but so far i really haven't had any issues with the new update except for occasional game pausing when its not saving. i do still have my original character from before mistlands update and have transferred her over to a new seed. but its not the same experience if you do it right from the very beginning with a fresh start.

but so far I'm liking the new update, minus any bugs ill eventually come across.
