I did not try to play a old savegame, you should anyway start a new map (to have the new ressources spawn)

So yes a new map is intentional. If you cant load old saves ... thats a other question

I just logged in to check out new update to find 460 hrs of work gone
save files and back up save files empty
so pissed as I really liked this game

no had none. Also, my CHARACTER got deleted. All those hours of leveling up is gone. I knew that what is early access game is like, but it is depressing

There is a character Editor you can set the Skills to your old values.
And there are tons of possibilitys to create a new advanced Basis in a very short time

So if you lost what you had its really easy to get back to that point
