Invasions are weird, and rip my tamed animals.

This isnt supposed to be a rage post, but i am a bit in disbelief of how invasion work sometimes. This cant be seriously how things are supposed to go.

So I tamed piggies, cool. Had a wall, a trench, seemed fine. Except when during an invasion, a skeleton bugged its way up the trench and killed all my pings through a stake wall.

At least that was real bug, I guess? But its annoying that taming is such a boring waiting game, doubly so when stuff like this happens.

But then... "the cauldron stirs", and Ive got a bunch of bats murdering every pig I got? Who thought thats a sensible thing?
It feels like trial and error, the game is just screwing the player for no reason. And the resulting lecture is... to cage all my pigs into a dark stone/wood box with no opening, no light? Metal cages are overkill, too expensive.

Kinda hurts the building aspect, and the exciting taming gameplay of "wait 30 minutes to tame" isnt something I look forward to.

Idk, Invasions just dont seem to work very well. Generally, the invasion system jumping you with no preperation doesnt really add up. The best version of that Ive seen was in 7 Day to Die, where invasion were really dangerous, but you had the time to prepare your base or a defensive location.
These random invasoins, which can catch you in the middle of building defenses, or with silly trial and error stuff where they wreck your entire base (or animals), because you dont know the exact threat, doesnt really seem to work very well. Its fine to be hardcore, but randomly punishing players because they didnt jump to overly specific hoops they couldnt even have known about isnt very interesting.

It would be nice if you had a 15-20 min window or like a days notice.. maybe? Might help. Honestly I just use a mod and turn them off. They don't serve a purpose they aren't hard they are just one more annoying thing to deal with that only server to injure tames or buildings.. the character itself is never in any real danger.

The aspect of invasions that always irritated me most was how it's handled in MP specifically. Then again i might just be salty that one of my first multiplayer experiences was my friends finally talking me into joining them on this game only to get "you are being hunted" within my first 30 minutes on the server because my friends were already pretty far along (they were coming to pick me up and help me with the catch up part, but i still got nuked during that one even with 2 body guards lol, possibly because they told me to run and...i could not outrun the wolves that slipped past them. Pretty sure they were hoping I could make it out of event range while they handled it but that is ultimately not how it went).

In SP, it does end up trial and error mostly, but once you go through the learning process you sort of control how your raids progress to. Like I love my troll armor, but hate dealing with troll raids until I get iron for the masonry so I often actually skip elder until Ive already visited swamps for that purpose. Even without the key I can use stagbreaker to find at least one scrap pile and boom, that's usually enough to build in stone. For troll raids I need to have killed a troll, and the elder so until both happened i'm fine. Buuuut, no new player is gonna know all that yet, and is gonna eat a few troll raids as a result (trolls even surprise those who discover earth walls and trenches early because of their sheer reach and destructive power, been safe against everything so far and then suddenly a log explodes you in your kitchen out of nowhere, whoops, too close to the wall).
