valheim deticated server
i plan to keep one up on my own internet if i can. i found a pc someone is selling for 45 bucks.
HP Prodesk 600 G1
Intel i-5 4570 cpu@ 3.20GHz
4gb RAM
500GB HARD DRIVE
USB 2.0
USB 3.0
would this be decent enough to run a server? would i need to possibly upgrade it?
would it be worth the risk to buy it and see?

Not in my experience. The Valheim dedicate server starts to eat up a lot of memory once you've explored like a quarter of the map as it tracks spawns and entities in the game.
One physical CPU core per person that intends to connect to the server is also recommended. The CPU is honestly probably fine, but if you intend to fill an entire server with 10 people, you're gonna have a bad time.
I have no experience with the game on a Hard Drive, my dedicated server is using an SSD. Can't say how that would shake out.
That being an HP OEM computer, it's probably a dead-end for upgrades.
at max i think i have 5 ppl

I'm not in charge of your finances, but I would just buy that in the event of a catastrophe if your main computer took a dump. A cheap rainy day plan.

my main computer is way beyond this. its just an idea if i planned to make it one. I'm not in charge of your finances, but I would just buy that in the event of a catastrophe if your main computer took a dump. A cheap rainy day plan.
