Worn items should not count as inventory space

With all of the new items and updates it would be great if worn items no longer counted towards our bag space. It is a super detriment when you are out and about. Because the new area Mistlands is not great for any extra help from things like carts. And personally I use multiple weapons and switch constantly. The wist light taking the place of our belt also hinders the carrying ability. I like the update but it feels like the update took the players 10 steps back. The game took our carrying space and resting bonus. Players like to be able to have a backpack that is separate from worn items please.

You'll want to get used to night plains before taking on Yagluth anyway, it's a long fight and will probably go into the night.

I suppose I could build just a shack with a fire and bed away from any crafting tables that I might have built. I think that would eliminate the chance for a horde event. I might have to try that.

I have plenty of experience with night on the plains, which is why I don't want to stay up every night. :-)

FWIW, I just had my first test of the shelter with a horde event. First thing in the morning, before breakfast, of course!

The shelter worked well for a while, but then I discovered it's (near) fatal flaw. A berserker can reach and destroy the stonecutter from outside the wall, which I was using to repair the walls.

Luckily I was able to drag the horde to a nearby tarpit that I had to "cleanup" anyway. That gave me a second to eat and pop bonemass. I ran around for a few minutes, doing what I could until the event ended, then cleaned the remaining up, followed by draining the tarpit.

Of course, now I can't fit all the extra black metal and tar into my inventory!

I haven't modded my game yet, but I would imagine there is a mod out there that will give us the extra slots. I just started playing a few days ago and I'm struggling to stay vanilla since there's a mod called Valheim Plus that sounds soooooo tempting.

I'm not sure what the solution is but the current way makes armour stands clunky and annoying. I can't just disrobe and then grab another set, I have to faff about moving all my clothes to quickslots, hang them up on a stand, pop another armour stand for items, move all my new clothes into place and my weapons back to quickslots, then equip all my clothes one by one...
I don't even care about extra slots - I carry a lot of crap and get by with 9 free slots - just make a less painful way to manage clothes.

Same with food, there should be a lunchbox area. Arrows too, they should go in a quiver and not take up general inventory slots.

I would like to see an item that increased the number of slots, like the Meginjord increases the total weight. I'm not a fan of compartmentalizing storage. I would rather have the flexibility to fill the slot/weight limit without additional restrictions.

FWIW, I don't remember much of an issue when I used a portal, since you can drop your portal in 30 seconds (if that) to get anything you now need and/or forgot.

Try fitting all you need, including sufficient mats for repair stations of high-level equipment in your inventory and/or ship, assuming you may not be able to get to your base for days or weeks.

I recently developed a design for a "stone shack" that I can pop up in a minute or so that would at least give me a fighting chance if a horde attacked happened unexpectedly in the field. Fortunately I haven't had to test it yet, but I have used it many times for overnight shelter in the plains while searching for Yagluth. It takes 2 iron (for the stonecutter) about a stack of stone and a stack of wood.

I am heading out now to prepare to fight Yagluth, assuming I can find the alter again. I have no idea what I'll need for Mistlands, but I assume it's going to be a learning experience. I might need more stone for the roof and a better way to vent the fire!

That said, the shack has no door, so sealing it up too tight could be a problem in the case of death...

Have you tried hatching eggs?, if only we had that minecraft option of holding the right button to fill out 20 slots with 1 egg in 1 go instead of literally splitting 1 stack 19 times to make 20 stacks of 1.

Agreed, I think they should have gone with item slots of some kind.

Agree 100%

With all the new mats, weapons, and random gear that has been added with teh Mistlands update inventory space is really becoming a critical issue.

Really, people want backpacks, but if we would have a simple equipment loadout that would fix both the issue of having less stuff in our inventory and it opens up a whole lot more. Just imagine, different belts with different properties, carry capacity, potion slots, or a combo of both in between. An accessory slot section where we can put those boss rewards like the swamp key, wishbone etc and select which ones we wanna have activated.

Seriously, to play the game, most people have a mace, a sword, a bow, a shield, a hammer, 3 food, 4 pieces of armor, an accessory, a stack of arrows, perhaps potions, a portable portal which needs wood, fine wood, eyes and cores. That is, without potions, 18 item slots used, out of 32, we need an update on this.
