Cage walls suffocate me, literally!
Building my Meadow Castle when I got to the fireplace. After securing it, I thought to decorate it a bit and saw that the cage walls are nice. Placed them and jobs done. I step inside, cook a meal, then went to sleep. After waking up, I decided to hang for a bit for the rested buff, when I'm choking, vision is hazy, and I see that I'm smoked.

I guess the holes in the cage wall are just for show.
Does that mean if we build a cage then lock a guy there, we are actually suffocating them to death?

Yup - cage walls are effectively regular wall/floor pieces. You can use them as shelter but you need to put in ventilation. I discovered this when I tried to make a BBQ grill and the fire kept getting smothered. :)

cage walls are absolutely NOT full of holes... its solid as any wall or floor only it allows you to see through it. Smoke requires a full 2x2m opening at least, to travel through.
edit.... even rain cannot pass through and as far as that goes, even sunshine doesn't go through it, meaning you cant place these over plants and expect them to grow.

Yeah, if you want to bat-proof your house, this is not the way. But you can fully enclose smoke in a sideways L vent as long as it's long enough to hold the smoke until it despawns. Some people run it through a space between floors or an attic.
