Inventory management could use a rework now.

It was already a little annoying that everything you are "wearing" uses a slot in your inventory, but now with all the new types of food you have to pick up, inventory space is at an even higher premium. Just adding wear positions and maybe a quiver for your ammo would really help offset the fact that you have a lot more things to pick up. Or add a gathering basket item you can make and carry in your inventory that you can stuff food into. Adding more inventory room isn't really all that op considering you are still limited by carry weight.

There is really no room for anything at all now, since you have to carry 2x at least of the food types, lol. Starting to think it's not a viking game and a game about grocery shopping, lol.

You don't though. You take whatever you need for what you are intending to do. No one is making you carry one of each food, 2 sets of armor, and one of each weapon type and ammo on you. If you choose to try to play with your entire home slapped on your back that is on you.

why woudl you carry more than 3 food? You just carry what you need for that trip. I have a dagger, shield, 3 armor, pick, 3 food, axe, hammer. Plenty of room for things

You're basically going to have to carry:

1) 3 varieties of food, possibly an extra food for 'stamina switch' so you move to bow or knife (stealth)
2) Whatever you manage to pick up along the way.
3) Armor/Weapons, etc.

By the time you're done you realistically have about 4-5 open slots tops. In that will be a random deer head, a bone piece, and some other random trophy, lol.

To me, the food mechanic is the lamest part of the game next to the pitifully small inventory. Minecraft had the same issue, they fixed it.. It's hard to have a builder game with a small inventory.

Inventory was already pretty stingy before so its not an improvement. Why do we have to carry armor in inventory? Make no sense really, no other game does this and there is probably a good reason not to do it.

Not even close to true. I really don't understand claiming again something that doesn't factually hold up.
You have a total of 32 slots. 4 armor+4 food brings you to 8 used. Lets add a 1h, shield, 2h, bow, 2 stacks of arrows, 2 tools, and say 2 stacks of potions, and 2 misc items,so you're carrying a small armory on you now. That's 20 slots total, still leaving you 12 open slots in this extreme, everything and the kitchen sink scenario.
Again, unless you insist on bringing one if each weapon, tool, potion, and ammo on you everywhere, plenty of space.

Still doesn't make any sense to have the armour you're wearing in your inventory. You're not carrying it, you're WEARING it, which means it's on your body, not in your pockets. And you do realize that 12 slots isn't a lot of space when you're exploring and picking up stuff along the way. Or, for example, cleaning out a crypt or a burial chamber.

space management is a thing...

inventory = all things carried
it is NOT a backpack

if you optimize your loadout, you will have room to pick up even MORE CRAP along the way.
this translates to... dont bring everything with you, only what you need for this excursion ;o)

I wish they would just give us a character screen where we would equip gear, weapons, etc... like most RPGs do. That would solve the issue.

i agree .. however thats not how it is at the moment.. so we need to be more selective in what we take with when we leave the house ;o)

The devs don't seem to agree that it's an issue at all, having previously marked this specific request as "not planned."

So, you know what I would be doing in real life if I were out exploring and ran out of "inventory" (read: the capacity of carrying stuff on my body, in my arms and in my pockets)? I'd craft myself a backpack so I could store the stuff I'm carrying in my arms and be able to pick up more stuff to carry in my arms! (Nope, I'd most definitely NOT craft myself a cart to pull. Carts are for moving heavy stuff like logs, ore or stone from location A to location B, not for exploring.) So the answer is quite obvious: If they insist on us having to carry our CLOTHES (cos that's what armour is - clothing) in our inventory - we need to be able to craft a bag or a backpack. for more inventory space. Wooden frame backpacks were a thing in the viking age.

and they didnt carry that much stuff. You're carrying a mountain of stone and ore in your inventory, stop mixing game balance with real life :p

So the magical belt that takes up a space to carry more weight is less far fetched than being able to craft a backpack or a knapsack to have more inventory? People really bend over backwards for these devs to defend stupid gameplay systems.
