Depends on how you intend to use a shield. You still can't parry with them, and they are still heavy, but they block better than the smaller shields.

I use them for archers in the swamp and that's pretty much it. If you can parry use the smaller shields. If you can't, then dodging, moving around, or atgeir secondary is usually the better choice. Tower shields slow you down too much to have out all the time.

So, I guess the answer to your question is "yes."

i just wanna hunker down and be a tank while looking awsome with the tank shields, but im also not going to put myself at such a disadvantage since the tower shields barely block more, and that really is barely more XD

have block level +25 and you can basically block anything with a upgraded wooden tower shield till plains, honestly i stepped away from the parry shield and started parrying with my melee weapon since i reached 60 block on my main account. i hold my tower shield in sticky situations since you lose almost no stamina

There were a couple infested mines I was thinking it would be nice to have a tower shield.

Tower shields don't suck, they have a different usage than bucklers and medium shields. It's a matter of play style. Keep in mind to block better (not parry) you need a higher health pool, so pretty much on the 2 health/1 stamina food regimen. If you want more flexibility (but less blocking power) then use a smaller shield.

Tower Shields are best used in group play for you to become a "Tank" role. You can essentially block infinite damage for infinite time with a tower shield, while your squishy homies slap some cheeks.

They're also really good for just leveling up blocking period.

even if they do kinda suck, it would make a neat challenge for no parrying, also whats with dwarfs flying away from me? that wasnt a thing when i used to play

If you're talking about knockback, It's been broken for a while, and might be worse in this update. I had a deathsquito knock me back a good 10 meters or so this morning.
