Permadeath

I finished my permadeath run, it took me 700 hours to do it. Tell me how much time and effort it took you, and if you haven't done it yet, how do you die most often?

I agree with Viny. I feel that is too much of an exploit myself. I have not made it out of the swamps on any of my perma death runs. Most of my deaths could have been avoided. My current run is in Black forest about to do bronze. I have started over a lot (I mean a lot) and always with a new seed.
Yeah of all the exploits to do, this is something I would ban someone for. I had a server that beat 1 boss a week, and we restricted ourselves from tech out of good faith. It lasted quite awhile, and it is proof that most players would rather play the game as intended.

Wolves have probably killed me the most, but not when I was doing permadeath runs. The Elder has killed 2 of my permadeath attempts, but it doesn't take long to get there.

Haven't done it and I won't. The main reason is that most of the very rare times that I do die are due to recklessly building in high places on an empty stomach. No point in subjecting myself to that disappointment.

If I didn't have that habit I think the only two things that could pose a threat to a first-try are either a pack of wolves or a stealthily migrating deathsquito. The vast majority of enemies are pants. They practically cheese themselves.

How it's done.
1. Make the trolls work for you untill you can make a pickaxe.

2. To get Iron easy. You need 10 wood and 4 finewood. At the crypt build a workbench and place a chair as close as possible to the gate facing inwards. Sit down and when standing up. Viola, you're in.

3. For Silver you can use a stagbreaker or any other sledgehammer. When you smash it to the ground and you see the message " To Hard " you know it silver underneath. You can be fooled by Obsidian stones so make shure there is no one around.

4. Don't die.

There's really not that much that you need iron for. You need the pickaxe, and there are some station upgrades, but I can't think of much else. You can get silver in bronze armor to get wolf armor, and that's plenty through plains.

I did a no-boss, no-map, no-portal, permadeath run, but then got bored, since the only event that you get is the forest one.

I don't like the bosses, and I like the challenge of no-boss, but then there's no challange in end-game unless you go out to search for it.

That said, pounding mud for hours to just get a few scraps is no fun either! :-)

I'm beyond 700 hours in my permadeath pursuit. Most common is probably having a 'Hold my beer' moment or playing after only three hours sleep and no coffee. Occasionally I abandon a run because of a fubar'd seed, things like Trader no where to be found prior to Plains, or when I've spent too much time and resources going the wrong way so that it is easier to just restart.

Primary area of death is Swamp with Mountains being a close runner up. Of course, more than one from accidentally getting too close to Plains. My biggest battle in the permadeath challenge is with my own impatience.
Thanks for the congratulations!
The first two biomes I passed without any problems, on the marshes a couple of times I foolishly died when I did not kill the draugrs at the spawn point, but the death about a 2-star draugr. Then a couple of times I was killed by a wolf attack in the mountains. The last time I forgot to drink wine against fire when the last boss had 10-15% HP left. But this time I was ready and took him down in 7 minutes. Now I'm cultivating a herd of LOX.

Went through the first three bosses - the first died in 5 seconds, the second and third in a minute.
