Remove the corpse loot retrieve

All items on your inventory should remain with you when you die and spawn to your set bed.

Why? It's tedious and pointless.

Disagree, it adds a penalty to death and a sense of fear to exploration. Though there are mods to customize death mechanics.

Let's remove death while you're at it, it is tedious and pintless.

The point is to make it tedious so you'd avoid dying.

Could use Gravekeeper - https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/65

Can just configure it so that you don't lose items when you die.

Call me what you will, but the thing that bothers me about losing equipment is that it's a double punishment. It feels like kicking the player exclusively when they're already down.

I don't know about other people, but the only time I ever died was early on in a new biome in a rough spot. AKA, the points where the game is at its hardest. I never once died while just tooling around in a biome I'd already spent time in. So to lose your equipment, in the most dangerous spot you have access to, and then have to get it back in a much weaker state than you got killed in in the first place, just seems mean. I realize the game needs a penalty for death, but for the aforementioned reasons, losing all inventory seems like the wrong sort of punishment. Plenty of other games find different ways to punish death. Nobody would call the Dark Souls games casual mode baby time, (even if they really aren't as hard as they're made out to be,) but those games don't make you weaker for dying, they just take away the currency that advances you. Valheim would do much better with a system like that - something to lose so death matters, but not a loss that makes the player tackle the same problem that already killed them in an even weaker state than when they lost the first time.

I do not use any mods myself. I finished the game and have been doing "hardcore" runs where I delete my character and world if I die. Now that gets your heart pumping.

I do agree that it enhances fear and ♥♥♥♥ while exploring. But if I'm about to gear up my gear, then I need to go further. If I die there, I'd need to have almost the same amount of gear to go there again, just to retrieve my stuff. Instead gearing up to get my gearings, I should start from the start.

I think it should be an option but not on by default, I personally feel like turning these things off is cheating and detracts from my gameplay experience. I remember back in the day losing WEEKS of progress in Runescape when I died in PvP. You used to lose everything when you died and had like two minutes to get it before it disappeared in PvE or in PVP your killer gets everything.

The last 3 times I retrieved my gears, I went naked. Once on the plains, twice in the mountains. I just ate food and run, maybe brought a potion or two. With the no skill drain status effect, you lose nothing (but time) trying.

Set up portals whenever you cross the ocean and find new land. I wouldn't call it planning ahead, it's the basics.
