Why make it easy?
Guys, why nerf the game? I'm hoping to enable game difficulty levels here comes an update that makes it easier.
It's a SURVIVAL game, not a walk in the woods!

If we have to burn through 75% of our stamina just to jump over uneven terrain to get behind an enemy in an attempt to deal any meaningful damage, just for that damage not to register because combat on land in this game that isn't 100% flat is absolutely atrocious, then the only other real thing they can do to "fix" the game without digging deep into game code and spending another 2 years "fixing" the code is to nerf the enemies. Sorry, this is an early access game. It's not finished and it's not done, and that's what you paid for.

be a real shame if someone released a mostly vertical biome... What are you referring to with a nerf? The latest significant patch was the mistlands update, wasn't it? I don't think they changed much (if anything?) for the previous biomes or items.

“Survival” is a pretty loose term to use as a description of this game, since one of the major elements of survival is starvation, which cannot happen in Valheim.
“Conquest” is a more fitting imo, because the overall goal is to work towards defeating each of the forsaken gods.

I've heard that mentioned before, maybe it was from you. Where did you get that definition? That may be a common element, but it's not a defining characteristic.
Even if it was, just because you can't die in-place due to starvation, food consumption is a key survival element.
Clearly it has all the classic survival elements. You are dumped into a hostile world with nothing. You have to forage to survive (including food). You have to build defenses against the enemies.
They layered biome progression and bosses on top of it, but that doesn't change the underlying survival aspects of the game.

There are enough elements there to consider Valheim “survival”, but like I said, it’s a loose way to describe the game as a whole imo.“Survival” is a pretty loose term to use as a description of this game, since one of the major elements of survival is starvation, which cannot happen in Valheim.

I say “conquest” is a better term that captures the overall theme of the game, as unlike with other survival games, the elements are not your biggest enemy.
Now, how would I define “conquest” as a theme for games? Well, ultimately it’s just the act/process of “conquering”.
All throughout the game, it’s a constant process of getting better gear to better combat enemies and to take on bigger challenges.
That’s ultimately what brought be to this game, and I do find those elements enjoyable, until I get bogged down by other certain elements, but I’ll leave those out to keep this on topic.

Sounds like you've got a bad case of the "I need a boat"s.
