Crate and Crowbar podcast, which is basically the crew from the old PC Gamer UK made the same decision for their end of year episode.

It deserves it in my book. EA game more polished than most AAA full release.
Fun game loop and diversity of playstyles in an open world where you set your own goals to progress.
All the mechanics are very fluid... this has become especially obvious to me since I started to play Icarus ... auto pickup and the motion and climbing etc are all way superior in this EA game while Icarus feels more like an early beta. I am trying to like it and hope it gets developed better over time but those basic mechanics are so bad and core that I don't think that part will change much.

It really is hard to find good games at all. Valheim shines in ways that attract a broad range of players and really should set the standard for those that follow.

Exactly... PRIME EXAMPLE... BF2042 got worst game of the year.
