lol cant wait to come back in 5 years and see how well that comment ageddevs in general are so slow, wonder if they all got like a sidejob delivering papers and just sit on their money from valheim and chill? Can say with +20 years of gaming these guys are the slacker of slackers!
You are fully clueless, and I love the fallacy of equating gaming with game development as if you are an expert, and by love I mean it shows you are just trolling... and not well I might add.
There is more than enough evidence to show they are not sitting on money and chilling, we do not need this negativity here.

If I play 100 games and the slowest one is the slowest one, I don't need to be a developer to say they are the slowest.
And Iron Gate is verrrrrrry slow.
Since you even got your Valheim review banned by Steam's Moderators a year ago, I'm gonna just say, you're here for shenanigans and nothing more:

1. Most of the devs are employees, who do not "sit on their money". They have to work for it. Hard.
2. A company has expenses. Quite a bit. They have taxes to pay, Steam wants their 30% (or whatever it is) cut. I would not say that IronGate is broke, they're now well funded. Nothing more. Most Indie startups are not that lucky. Most indies fail. Hard.
So, it looks like you don't really know what you are talking about.

It is up to you to look at the patch notes for the last year and additions to the game and decide for yourself as this would be a subjective decision.

I recognize that the pace and expectations you have for the devs isn't grounded in the reality of their efforts and thus this isn't an accurate depiction of the the small dev team and really amounts to pot stirring.
And so, none of that has much relevance to your alleged 20 years of gaming and armchair assessment based on little to no legitimate information.
You can watch various fireside chat videos on their official yt channel and various interviews of the devs but Jiroc on his yt channel as well to see for yourself but I don't think it would have any bearing on changing your demeanor concerning the progress/state of the game.

Short answer, yes. If you enjoyed the game at release, you will likely enjoy it now. The only adjustment for me was the "new" food mechanic/buffs/items. Any big patches since release?

Good point. I'm hoping as well for more content. I enjoy being able to port another toon to a new seed. Awesome. Not sure if anyone mentioned it but you can create a new world to see the frost caves if you want. They're pretty neat and it's easy to take your character from a previous world to jump right to it.
They're in the snow mountain zone.
Hopefully the game gets more content like this.
For those who like to complain about the developers of this game and their "progress"...
There was a time when you purchased a game and that was all you got. No updates, no patches, no progress. If it was garbage, you were stuck with it.
I give you the best example: E.T. for Atari 2600.
When you purchased this game, you likely had the expectation of improvement over time. That is not always the case. When you purchase an Early Access game, you do so with the understanding that it is purchased "as is". There is always the possibility of being abandoned, even if the game is popular and playable.
My example from experience: theHunter Primal.
Some people will always complain, that's just human nature. But please, don't expect the developers to owe you anything beyond your original purchase. Get off your pedestal, you aren't that special. Neither am I.

depends on what is enough for you to come back too... and what the highest boss was when you stopped I guess
The highest boss is (still) Yagluth
But they've added complex dungeon/caves in the mountains that I found pretty fun.
Hearth and Home added some building stuff as well, but I don't know that it added much other new content.
If you're looking for a lot of new content though I think the answer is there isn't that much new.
But like others have said you could just start from scratch on a newly generated world. Assuming that isn't what you've done repeatedly already..

As a more comprehensive answer.. It depends. Progress-wise you can still only really get to Yagluth. There are now caves in the Mountains, abominations in the Swamps (DO NOT GOOGLE THAT - that's worth experiencing blind) and tar pits in the Pains biome complete with a new blob variant.
If you were a builder, then there is quite a lot of new building blocks to make your builds even cooler.
Then, peripherally, some new foods and a few other bits.
Fundimentally (at least IMHO) the gameplay has not significantly changed, but going on another fresh run would deffos be fun, so I guess, good luck on your decision.
