Food Crafting...

...is annoying as heck.

I understand that the Workbench and Forge does not allow the queuing up of crafts... but why do I have to keep click for every food item also? Either there is a way... and I am just simply to dumb to see/find it...

... or I would like to suggest that there is a way so we can queue up the crafting of stuff where players make more then one.

I have found that the fast way to plant (at least for me) is to get your first row nice and straight and spaced how you want and then to plant the subsequent rows while strafing sideways, using the previous rows plants as an indication on when to click.

I've planted over 100 carrots in a couple minutes. Really, the trick, if it can even be called that, is knowing the spacing.

I just had a waking nightmare of a group of players holding a planting contest for bragging rights :steamhappy:

the planting is more the pain. I keep planting too close to each other, or too close to a workbench, or where there is no sunlight, or too close to the edge of my cultivated area... and that makes my perfectionist side paranoid, so I spend a half hour planting, to make sure that each plant has what it needs, and that my furrows are straight, etc.

It would be a lot easier if we could build planter boxes, which you can interact with to plant... take away all the guesswork of proper spacing.

There's a very unintrusive farm grid mod out there. If you're against mods, you CAN build planter boxes... use your imagination. Not sure why you would be though, if everyone with a minor complaint like this used the existing mod to fix it, everyone would be happy.

At any rate, the short wooden sections are the perfect length for planters. Failing that, I find running in a straight line and clicking as fast as I can works. You can't click so fast that you'll plant too close. Food crafting seems fine to me, if you wanna pre-cook stacks and stacks of food then that's your choice.

you don't need a mod, you need a bow. (interesting dyslexia/character rotations with those two words...!?)

I don't want to use mods, at least not for my first time around.

"Like a minute"... as for how much food, I fall asleep already when cooking a 10 stack. Roasting Meat is at least interactive, you put it up and wait for the sizzle. But the Cauldron crafting can even be interrupted by pressing the "craft" button twice.

The thing with several players is that usually people tend to split up the chores... few do them together. And then one might end up having to cook up food for 4+ people.

I find planting/harvesting the barley much worse... position and click 350 times to plant, then 350 times to harvest, every 3 game days.

I try to time my cauldron cooking around my baking and serpent meat roasting. Can't exactly leave to do other things with meat roasting and pies baking, so it is a natural time to use the cauldron.

Dude, when it comes to harvesting barley and flax, just use the secondary attack of an Atgeir. It reaps(literally) a circle of the harvestable. I've tried it and can confirm it makes harvesting barley and flax a breeze.

Never tried it on seed plants though.....

I find the one-handed nature of cauldron cooking leaves the other hand free to hold my beer, uh, I mean mead.......

Before logging out, i just got done making 3 stacks of sausages, 7 stacks of queens jam, and 4 stacks of boar jerky. Took me like 5 minutes total.
