Maypoles

I just found my first maypole, and thought wow, I guess there are rare things to find if you explore enough. I was all excited until a second or two later, when a greydwarf came running out of the woods and wrecked it in one hit. No wonder they're so rare..

I'm on my 1st play through now and I found one in early game but didn't know what is was til later. The pole is too close to the mountains for me to use yet (unfortunately I also found a wolf early) because I stay away from those mountains.

I might use it later though. :steamhappy:

They really aren't anything to get too excited over in my opinion. They are rarely in a spot I'm interested in building.

I think it would be cool if there was a material that you could get from breaking them down either with a bench or an axe, where you could then remake it where you want.

Just started this seed yesterday...

2 maypoles very close each other:

From the wiki:

On patch 0.155.7, the Maypole was temporarily made buildable by the developers as a celebration of it being midsummer in Sweden. [1]

Key word being "temporarily".

Now you must find them in the wild if you want that 1 extra minute rested bonus.

The mid summer festival is celebrated in Sweden and dancing around the maypole is a highlighted event, hence the temporary bonus for the duration of the festival.
Mark it on your calendar for this year if you want to build one ;)

Also not every map has one.

The map we're currently playing has at least two that we've found so far, in relatively close proximity, too. I thought there was only ever one per map?

If you don't want to wait that long, you can open the console and set the game to a sort of creative mode which will allow you to build / craft anything "free" using no materials.

The Maypole (as well as all other seasonal items) become available that way.

If you don't want to "cheat" the items in, you could go to the site which shows you Valheim maps by typing in the world seed, and look for a map which has a naturally occurring maypole. I'm sure someone can link the site as I don't know it off hand)

Of course, the non-cheat way would be to run around and hope you get lucky enough to find a maypole on the map you are on or create a different map(s).

In 500 hours I have only ever found 2 worlds that had maypoles on them, and both times they were in crappy locations I didnt want to build in.

My bases location is far more important to me than 1 minute extra rested bonus. I've never built around a maypole before. They have never been in a spot I am willing to commit to.

It is random, I have heard of a world with 3.

During the summer solstice we were able to craft them.

I found 1 on 2 of the 3 worlds I have been on. 3rd world I have barely explored. Haven't done anything with the ones I found. Discovered them after I already had a main base.
