I was exploring my current map and found one of those abandoned village sets with the zombies inside. The main hall was pretty close to the water, and I know I should have chosen a different building, but I wanted to see what I could do with it, so I cleared it out, took down the other buildings for resources and set to work. Some time later, I had leveled the ground, fixed everything and set some fires... when a huge waves came in, and everything was underwater.

There was no damage, but I modded the original design to have some space under the floor (hopefully keeping everything out of the occasional surge... nope!) and continued with my build. There were then some storms, with lots of high tide and surge waves completely swamping my base and seemingly having no lasting effect on the building... not so much on the ground itself.

I kept going out to find areas underneath the fences and in other spots lowered by a considerable amount, enough that I began to worry the walls were going to break with no support underneath them. I leveled the ground back to where it had been, only for the next storm to seemingly undermine my efforts again, wearing pockmarks and dips into the ground that I had to repair again.

It got me paranoid enough that I worked to lay in a level of stone supports under the wooden palisades just to keep them from coming down, but is this even a thing? WAS it a thing and I had just never noticed before? It's realistic, sure, but also a bit crazy to think that my well built base can survive all kinds of attacks, only to lose out to water.
