What does the new command do?
The last patch added a command:
resetsharedmap
Any idea what it does? I mean, yeah, reset shared map, but ... what does that do exactly?
In particular, how does it interact with wolf caves and player-made structures?
If you'd explored part of the map before the wolf cave update, and thus 'locked' the terrain there to not have caves, is that reset?

It has nothing to do with actually reseting the map. It is like you said, for the cartography table. Yeah that just makes the map for new players who join your game no longer available. That does NOT mean that the map for YOU will be cleared. I doubt that would help respawn frost caves.
Do what I did: Reroll the same seed. I did not regret it.

Just speculating, but my guess would be it clears the Cartography Table state?
