I would be happy to return the money...

I would be happy to return the money because this game is just a time killer. This game is killing the most precious thing in my life - my time. after the death of the character, we appear at the point of appearance with a bare ass, despite the fact that monsters easily kill you by the bed. Then the monsters break your bed and you appear with your bare ass already at the starting location. AND THAT 'S IT ! THE GAME STARTS FROM SCRATCH ! There is practically no way to pick up your loot, for example, from the snow-capped mountains, forget it. That is, all the time that you spent in this game is thrown in the trash. Plus, there's an absolutely idiotic spawn, when mobs from the dark forest appear in the meadows and kill a naked character, and you start the game from scratch again. The perks in the game make almost no sense. Developers, please - return the money and I promise that I will never run this game again for any money. Moreover, I also promise that all my friends will also not play it.

I remember a friend told me about his climb up Kilimanjaro. He prepared the entire year for that. On his way up, he saw bodies just frozen in time. He didn't get all the way to the top and had to go back down with his guide. His guide told him afterwards, that many people believe themselves fit enough to climb tall mountains, but end up dying along the way due to the thinning air.

Moral of that story is: people venture into the unknown believing they are 'fit' enough to do so, but end up dying along the way. So in your case, prepare, prepare, prepare.

I've clocked 350 hours in the game. Died a few times on the mountain. Never had problems retrieving my loot. Then again, not only did I prepare for multiple deaths with a castle full of gear, but I had built up a fortified location at the base of the mountain with a portal.

It's dangerous at night. And if you are in a position to not have a plan for corpse recovery, you have no business being on a mountain peak.

ABSOLUTE worst case, if you were completely unprepared and have no back-up plan , you can create new tool/armor/weapons to get back for recovery.

Or you can quit. We are all ok with that.

*Edit : I spoke for for everyone , I'm sorry , I meant to say "I" am ok with that.

If you treat this game like a "casual" exploration game, you are going to die... A LOT.

You have to play this game as though "something" is about to kill you at any moment, because, it's likely something is going to try... regardless if you are exploring or just building a house in the meadows, you need to be ready, at a moment's notice, to fight for your life or flee (also a perfectly useful strategy).

To "be ready" means keeping your foods topped off at ALL times, (even if you are just building), as well as having the rested buff active at all times... Upgrade your gear, to the best of your current ability for the biome you are currently playing, and NOT going into any other (harder) biomes until you have fully defeated the biome you are in ... It's a progression.

You are meant to play one biome at a time... fully explore that biome, and collect it's resources and items. Upgrade your gear, upgrade your foods, plant crops if new seeds are found, brew meads,,,,, Basically PREPARE yourself fully and then try to defeat the Boss of that biome before you move on to the next biome and start the cycle again for the new biome.

The game allows you to go wherever you want, but that doesn't mean you SHOULD... If you skip progression and go into harder biomes before you are prepared to be there, you are going to die... If you let your guard down or forget to eat or lose your rested bonus, your next step could be your last.

The game really isn't that difficult if you are careful about what you are doing and where you are going (or NOT going).

If we go by that then there is a lot in this game that is too quick and easy. Take building a boat for example. You gather X amount of materials, click a couple of buttons and there you go, you've got a ready-made boat. Something more fitting that description would be more arduous and might have the player building the boat piece by piece over several hours, days even. More grindy perhaps but such a viking 'simulation' that has a slower more careful pace could yield its own very different rewards. I really like the sound of that actually but it's a fair bit beyond the scope of this game.

Maybe it's like "brutal" in the description too and probably not meant to be taken so literal.

Nah mate this is jsut you sucking at the game.
You can just place a portal back to your main base and in your main base you can store your previous gear. Couple that gear with food and Bonemass power to reduce incoming damage (which you should have already if you are in the mountains) and that will allow you to get your stuff back. it's not the fault of the devs that you don't plan ahead.

If monsters easily kill you by your bed, you're doing something wrong.

If you carry everything valuable on you all the time, especially when you already can access the Mountains, you're doing something wrong.

Meadows only spawn greydwarves and higher-tier mobs (exception being skeletons at graves) after you defeat bosses.
If you don't have a proper house before it becomes a problem, you're doing something wrong.

Per Steam's Refund Policy you can refund games if you have less than two hours of playtime and submit your refund request not later than 14 days after purchase. If you don't meet said requirements, you will not get a refund.

Trying to argue about that will result in this thread being locked.

I remember when a troll once killed me then smashed up my bed. I thought it was hilarious that it did it. Like "f*** you, and your bed too!"

You would be happy to return the money? Someone is paying you to play Valheim?

Sounds to me like you have the same problem complaining about Valheim as you do playing it: You don't pay attention to what you are doing.

This really is the wrong type of game to play if you are short on time.

Might I suggest Bejeweled? Each game completes faster so it won't matter when you make a mistake.

Two false statements.
Perhaps your seed is such that Start Temple lies very close to Black Forest or worse. But if you didn't rush the game, this shouldn't be news, and you should have a fair number of already made shelters around this starting location.
The game doesn't starts from scratch; only your character was transported to the starting place. Your goal is just now, to equip yourself and return near where you died first time (mountains in your case). This can takes minutes or days, depending on whether you have materials available in chests and stacks around the starting location, portals, etc. This could even take weeks, what's the problem when tombstones are persistent? You keep playing the game and progressing in the meantime.

At worst, take the long path and your time, and in the end, you'll get a whole set of spare equipment, one boat more, etc.

All posts to the OP are quite valid and helpful, but it looks like the OP rage-quit, then rage-posted, for whatever reason, then went on their way.

I doubt they are comin back to get any of this good advice....:steamfacepalm:

Why does everybody just fail to register the word "purgatory" in the game description? Getting into Valhalla isn't quick or easy. It's not supposed to be.

purgatory
pûr′gə-tôr″ē
noun
1) A state in which the souls of those who have died in grace must expiate their sins.
2) A place or condition of suffering, expiation, or remorse.
3) In the belief of Roman Catholics and others, a place of purgation in which the souls of those dying penitent are purified from venial sins, or undergo the temporal punishment which, after the guilt of mortal sin has been remitted, still remains to be endured by the sinner.

Edit: phrasing
