They aren’t really that powerful, especially compared to other easy to get weapons. They are however quite fun to use with the speed and skill boosts of the Fenris armor to chase down enemies are rip them apart with your own claws.

Flesh Rippers are pretty bad imo. Use the same attack animations as being unarmed, low range, and same category as fists. Rippers are also slash only so better off with using something like a sword. But if you like them, roleplaying, etc then go for it.

Flesh rippers are fine when you know the game well enough, really bad weapon to pick up when going to a new biome or against new enemies. When you have high enough block skill, you can even parry some enemies like deathsquitos or just one-shot them before they can land a hit on you. It's also hilarious to make sneak attacks with kicks or just do a flying drop kick (with feather cape) on a troll and have them fall into pieces. So rippers are all about mobility and quickness, and they are very effective when you are familiar enough with terrain and mobs and their attack animations and resistances.

Rippers don't give any movement penalty when they are drawn/equipped, and their attack animation is quick, so you can really just run through the first five biomes (once you're familiar with them) and murder stuff by kicking them in nuts and then slicing their face open. Use root harnesk with padded armor pieces for survivability or fenris set for speed and fire resistance in the plains and frost caves. Especially in the mountains, the benefit of increased speed and low stamina cost for good DPS is very useful. Just stay away from the golems and lox or use backup weapons against them.

I use them for fun, mainly while hunting wolves.

They are pretty good for walking around a lox and giving it a good smack in the balk half while it continues to try to turn to face you. You hardly ever face them one on one though. They are also pretty good for hit and run tactics.

Well, everything in the Plains except Yagluth is immune to Spirit damage, so there's that. Lox are resistant to Frost damage...and Blunt. It also knocks fulings back too far to complete combos. If you like Frostner for the slow aspect, that's fine, but it does less damage than the the other options you have in the Plains.

I don't like them, they do low damage and the idea is to hit many times quickly to make up for it. That alone isnt a deal breaker, but if you mistime a parry, their blocking isn't good enough for high level enemy and you take a big hit, knockback or stun, etc. Where they shine is if you can get backstab hits, at 6x damage.
Anyway, I use them as a fun toy in the lower biomes, they are great for grey dwarf farming or bone farming etc. Plains and mistlands, though, no thanks.

A side effect of leveling these makes your unarmed fists much more useful.

Spirit is a bonus anyway, and the frost damage is massive against fulings. The knockback is irrelevant when one shot basically incapacitates them until the frost wears off. As for lox, just use the bow, they deal a little too much damage to feel comfortable stunlocking them in melee until you have plains level gear anyway

They are a weapon that you can equip without a speed or stamina penalty. They also count as unarmed. Are they better at DPS compared to other things? No, but I see a niche use for exploring or running around in fenris gear.

echoing what Dwarflord said, don't use a weapon with frost dmg on the mountain...because everything there is resistant to frost...
The silver sword is really good, maybe try fire arrows with the Draugr Bow too?

If you use maces, just keep the iron one until you can make the Plains-tier mace. If you use swords, the silver sword is decent until you can get the Plains one. The only really good weapon from Mountains is the Draugr bow. I'm sure some will take issue with that last statement, but it's mostly true. Hold on to Frostner though. It's usable for fighting Yagluth and all through the Mistlands.
