The Wishbone also works in the Swamp Biome, there are Iron deposits on the surface you can find. Just have to worry about the odd mob coming to harass you.

I find that the benefit from Silver armor isn't that much better than Iron, so I usually fully upgrade my Iron and completely skip Silver. Once you hit the Plains and start getting Flax to make thread, Silver becomes obsolete and you'll need lots of Iron from the Swamps again to make Padded armor.

So it turns out i wasn't digging all of the ore out of the ground hence why i got so few. The silver veins are quite large once you get them dug up. Still not in love with wishbone mechanic but that is a small complaint on an otherwise fantastic game

Its the fastest way because almost 90% are underground , other 10% can be outside but just a little part of the vein , the rest its buried
And why its a bad mec ? Its like a metal detector dude , pretty easy to notice that faster ping the bone more close are you from silver
The slow way its use a staggbreaker and hit the ground , if it says "too hard" there is where u have to dig , usually are where golems spawns

It just seems like a time waster to me. Why not just have it like copper or tin? I'm just walking the entire mountains waiting for this thing to ping and more often than not i find nothing. Maybe i'm just unlucky or got a bad seed.

not all mountains have silver, the bigger they are the more chance of spawn and number of spawn - generally if you see golem there is silver

i'll just have to keep searching i have just had bad luck so far i guess. I've walked 6 different mountains and came away with 15 silver. I will look for the golems before even attempting to find anything going forward

are you digging the whole vein out? I feel like I have been getting 75-90 ore per silver vein. Seems pretty unlucky that you would only find 15 silver in 6 mountains.

To cover all the bases...
1) the wishbone must be equipped (R click while in inventory) cannot be used with the belt at the same time.
2) must be at the elevation of obsidian stones or preferably higher.
3) usually silver is found in the mountain areas that cover larger areas of the map.
4) usually found at the elevations where log cabins, stone buildings, drake spawn areas which are usually near dragon egg areas.
5) if a stone golem pops up this is also a good indicator that you are in the correct area and elevation.
6) after getting rapid beeps you are getting close. 106 beeps per minute or faster, you are right on top of the center of the 3 legged silver formation.
