Just use a Bow, you don't need anything else, from Crypts to Burial Chambers to Forrest to Plains to Mountains to all Bosses they all die to the Bow.

I never use regular block unless I mess something up in my combat mechics and really really need a block, rare times do I ever us block. Rare

Parry is what you want, Get rid of all bronze gear and stick with Padded helmet, Wolf cape or Lox, Troll pants/chest and then polarm and axe and bow. Once you can make all these items of course. Learn how to make two stamina foods and one health food that are good foods, for example Bread is one of the best and easy to access once you start a decent crop rotation, oion soup and or Blood pudding if you have enough materials, then lox pie which I only use in the plains and or when I am in a bad spot. For the swamps I may use wolf skewer the most bread and onion. and then take time to learn and grow in combat mechanics and you will have a blast with that setup. Any gear that has a Negative SLOW to it stay away from like the plague, Unless you really enjoy waering heavey armor and maybe have learned how to move around with it and don not mind the slow, other then that I run all over the place and can outrun anything I came across with my setup.

Back to parry, Learn to parry everything your fighting at melee rang and life with be a whole lot easyier for you in Valheim, You get the knockback and then your first attack after parry is like a damage modifier or backslash attack which will be a nice damage atttack to any npc, to include 1 star fulings and even the Bite attack of a LOX. The the use of the polarm, the spin attack will save your life in most situations and the reash is nice also.

Smeone said above to destroy the spawn nests and you will be fine. Anyways hope that helps. If you got any questions just ask.

Infact I cant really recall that last time I used my black metal shield for a parry block, anymore I use my weapons block to parry with.

Man you are asking for end game gear and food (to cook bread you needs kill moder first lol ) when he is just in swamp , and with end game gear you already have an high running lvl that speed debuff just can be feeled, so have full padded armor is top to not get any in swamp , axe and polearm ? Why , silver/black metal sword or frostner/porcupine is the best for end game weapons , for Aoe iron sledge wrecks everything too
Axe is too slow lol

watch out those guys are tall and can swing over your shield and hit you right in the mouth when you think you're blocking

You have to parry them if you're using a bronze buckler. Fortunately their every attack is identical (the side slash serving right into your shield). Just raise your buckler when their weapon passes their side.

Also yea, early on, just shoot fire arrows into the corpse piles and anything else that looks like a mound.

You need a stronger shield.

You must destroy the spawn pile in the room that they are spawning in. Arrows work well to destroy it from range.

1. You can partially break the "blockage" and carefully pick off everything in the next room with a bow.

2. You can break in overly aggressive and mace everything into the ground as quickly as possible. I cannot stress the importance of aggression.
