I've always hopped on the slim wooden ladder option. Haven't really tried the dverger spiral stairs yet.

Stairs? you you mean ladders? If you mean the ladders, it was always like that.

no it wasn't. your character would kind of "zap" up the stairs but now he literally hops with his arms flailing around and everything.

Most probably a regression bug.

are you referring to the little staircase that's at like a 60 degree angle? ji don't remember its official name. i don't ever remember hopping. my character would just "teleport" from step to step without a dedicated animation for climbing them. it was janky but not as bad as this.

A little short, but...
1. we dont have ladders.
2. yes, the guy was hopping before. (in the steep staircase).
3 Flapping arms came with the Mistland update.
