They said it on their official discord server multiple times, also reaffirmed by the mods as well.

Ashlands is next. At current rate of significant content updates (H&H was NOT significant), you're looking at 2 more years minimum before you'll even see an alpha release. Maybe in 5 years we'll finally get Far North, "completing" the game.

makes sense given the quality of content they produce and how small their team is. The wait doesn't bother me to much considering how good the game is. Also makes sense for the Ashlands to be next because they have already done a snow biome

Logic like this is how you get some of the more ridiculous predictive models for things pertaining to...I dunno, temperature. You can't take two solitary data points and extrapolate them into infinity. The time from Hearth & Home until Mistlands is a more accurate set of data points anyhow. That said, it'll take as long as it takes. Even if the game stopped here and never got any more content, it would be a $20 very well spent.

when they do add content to the Ocean biome, i hope they add floating fortresses and ships occupied by the Dvergr race they added in the Mistlands update.

No, no it doesn't.

Take a gander over at Nexus mods and see the massive amounts of content mods, most of which are authored by a single person per mod. Some authors have multiple content mods by themselves. All have lived (and some died) within the same amount of time this single update came, which had a fraction of the new content in comparison collectively to mods.

I will agree with this one thing. They could do a lot worse than to hire on a few of the major mod-creators.

Video game development takes a lot of time. It's far easier and faster to create new content or features which are based on already existing ones, especially when you don't need to worry about QA. Let's not compare mod development with actual developers.

even in it's current state, you are right when you get all this content for only $20. Most big companies would charge triple that amount and even if something bad happened to the company and they folded, i could see the modding community keeping this game alive (kinda like how the modding community is keeping Starbound alive)
