What is the one thing you dislike?

As title says it. What is the thing about Valheim you dislike most?

For me after some pondering I have to say the Cart and the Sharp stakes are very close tied together.

While I don't dislike not being able to bring metal ore/bars through Portals... the question is how else to transport metal ore/bar. So far using the Cart feels off. At least to me and my friend. Once you have some weight in it, you would need to build a whole flatish road from to where-ever you want to use it. Any slight slope makes it impossible to pull it, full loaded even flat areas are a pain to traverse with it.

And then those Sharp stakes. Honestly the whole "Defend your Base" is not well thought out. You can place Sharp stakes around, but what is the point if they also take damage while doing damage to enemies?
That's why most people start to dig trenches or mounds steep enough to block enemies from even getting in. Campfires/Bonfires are the better choice here, by completely negating spawn all around your base but then you completely disable the whole "Raid" mechanic.
The best would be to add more possibilities of Base Defense, maybe make Sharp stakes not take damage themselves when dealing damage would be a start, maybe making them not a target for enemies would help to, I don't know.

I would like to have reason and ability to mine underground more. To delve greedily and deep.

The limitation of ores and ingots not being able to make it through portals seems so artificial to me. It just feels like something to make it a bit harder to gather important resources and that's it.

I sometimes feel like it's a bit BS that we can fix everything for free at the workbench/forge/etc. But on the other hand, if it cost resources, things would have to not wear off so quickly.

What is the thing about Valheim you dislike most?

People who come here and think this is vaporware, people who complain about the donation and think the devs took the money and ran, people who complain about the so called, "Road Map," that was changed last year, and people who make up fake stats about this game.

As for in game, the one thing I hate is the lack of building pieces, I was looking forward to a lot more building parts in H&H.

One is hands-on base stuff. The windmill and spinning wheel are examples of good ideas -- they hold a ton and do their thing without needing to be poked at every 2 min (though the 1/2 stack from 50 in the windmill is dubious). The smelters are terrible, they need constant input of coal and ore and can't be left to work for very long before they stop again and need a whopping 10 more ore (how about hold 30, one full stack, at least) and coal (also hold enough for 30 .. not 29.95 either, 30 :P). Cooking is a hassle as well. I get that burnt food is a thing so you can't leave it, but the quantities are a bit low, esp the oven and pot. The pot needs a make-all-you-can button and the oven could stand to hold 10 items, or at least 5 so you get full stacks after N goes instead of constant stacks of 8 or 12 when trying to get to 10 of something.

The other is the lack of inventory space. In 5 min after leaving my house, I will invariably be attacked by a dwarf (3 slots for wood, rock, resin, and maybe more junk), something from whatever zone I went to (more stuff, eg black metal and coins, or wolf meat and pelt, etc) and then Ill see a wild plant and grab a thistle or berry, and my armor and tools and food, and all of a sudden I haven't done anything and my bag is full again. Yes, I can drop a portal and dump it every few min, but it gets old. If just the armor and food were not taking up so much space, it would be a ton better. I feel like I can only gather one or two things sometimes, like if I want wood in bulk I have to discard all the feathers, resin, grey dwarf eyes, rocks, ... etc that come my way or waste a lot of time portaling back and forth.

Something that bugs me... when decontructing structures high up but in the interior the resultant resources get deposited on the roof. I then have to build a ladder to climb up and grab them. Conversely if decontructing something near a hole the resource falls in to it or beneath the floor even though I'm standing right next to or over it.

Yeah, I see that what a big point is in Valheim is... travel. Compared with other games similar, the Boats is something none other has. So of course they want you to use them, feel like a Viking to travel the seas to distant lands... and it does feel great.

One thing that is important... make the player do certain early game things that feel like chores... and then later on give the player tools to make it less as a chore as it originally was.

In this, I feel Valheim fails right now.
Just as ec928 said about not being able to plant/farm more then one item at once, or the same it is with VorteX lament about Resin. I understand that early on the player needs to struggle for Resin... but later on there should be ways to either automate or make acquiring Resin easier.

Metal ore/ingots is another thing like that. It feels random that you can't hop through Portals with metal ore/ingots and I understand why.
I feel what they should do is make the Cart not suck so hard when you load it fully up with Silver. I found that friends of mine never use Carts... they rather setup a Portal... grab as much metal ore they can handle, run from the Mountains down to the closes coast... Port back up using the Portal... and do another run.
I spend once a good 30 minutes just doing that, because we had a especially juicy Mountain full of Silver. But having used a Cart would have not been any faster then that, which is a sad thing.

What could fix this issue, would be to simply add more Carts to the game. Add one per metal type, make it use a material you can only get once you beat the required boss... and make it handle better with allot weight in it. There is more then enough different wood/metal combinations that could achieve this easily. And you really only need to change the texture of the Cart.

A couple of things.

First and least is the cart... It should be buffed. I gave up on it early just from having to repair it constantly or make a nice path or keep it indoors.

Second but most importantly I would like a quicker way to deconstruct boats.
Like hold alt and middle mouse or something? I get that they don't want you to make a mistake and deconstruct it but some combination might work. With auto pickup of the boat parts when deconstructed regardless of range as long as you are within the same bench range.
Basically if you can build it there you should be able to pick it up there as a unit.

I wish I could just pop a tent when i'm exploring. No get a hammer, cut down 1/2 a dozen trees, build a work bench, build a small shack, build a bed to sleep one night.
We have everything we need to camp, leather scraps and feathers for a sleeping bag and deer hide for a tent. Could even add sinew as resource from deer for lines.

Object placement. All you can do is throw things in the direction your character is facing, which may have nothing to do with what your character is looking at. This is made hugely worse by the fact that you cannot rotate your character in place, but have to back and fill like a semi.

Simple fix: Throw things where the cross-hairs are aiming.

i hate that there isn't some sort of apparatus to provide a reliable resin output (like a Dark Metal pot nailed to a tree, as in The Forest). Instead you have to either slaughter dwarves or level forests for that reason alone.
I was away from the main base for a while and f**k me not even a hundred sap was enough to relight all the fires...

The shortness of the days and foods having different length of times they are active. Looking at you onion soup. But mostly the days are just a bit too short for my liking. Days of about 30 minutes would be about right - but then again I might not be satisfied with that either. lol
My only thought on defenses is that there are no real defenses except for earth walls and ditches. Everything else is just a hope, an unfulfilled dream that some scrawny little line of sticks is going to do squat against anything put maybe a baby neck. And like why make stone walls that always always get damaged by Mr Troll when you can so easily make a lovely earthen wall that repels all but blobs. My opinion only, your mileage may vary.
