Bad things destroying them most likely.

I have seen multiple threads regarding this since the game launched. Every case has been because of bad things.

Put a fence up around them, animals/monsters are eating/destroying them.

Have you made a fence around your farm ground to prevent nasties from destroying your crops? You need to do that if you haven't.

Almost certainly animals monsters are eating them. They need to be completely fenced

just had this happen to me, almost 30 carrot plants are gone, area is totally fenced in

happens to me too - even if I change seeds - my 3 buddies on Teamspeak have never lost a single healthy plant.

it takes some time for plants to update the "no space"
so for some time they say "healthy"

but as people said... it's possible that simply monsters ate plants
just like goblins hunt non-natural barley and flax on plains

Pigs are eating them, when I noticed this I rebuilt my fence out of palisade walls. No more missing crops.

I've watched a troll with a weapon take out half a field despite trench and fence. Their weapons totally ignore obstructions. It was just one of those unlucky times they spawned right in the trench. No biggie to me. Just had to do an extra planting of seed-plants. Said troll got harpooned into copper pit as a 'reward'.

Yup. This. I found that all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deer loved eating my carrots. Little bastards.

This has also happened to me too, even after completly fencing in my crops they would dissapear in a large random area. It isn't animals or monsters eating them because if they did, the crops would be just gone in patches most likely, not in a perfect circle.

have your crops behind fences at least
boars will eat your crops
and greaydwarfs will attack them (leave a little space between the fence and the crops as greydwarf shamans can destroy crops with their poison breath attack

I've built a big-ass log wall around my field. I'm farming carrots by the hundreds, all accounted for.
