Them have a fixed spawn point and dont respawn , are like floating copper nodes , when you mine what you want and start to sunk its all , go for another one because that one will not respawn

Thanks for the info, guys! I've asked the friend who rents our server from GPortal to see if the seed value is visible to her somewhere in the settings, so I can use it in that map that MrBishop077 has provided (thank you for that!)

I kind of thought they never respawned, but my friends kept saying they thought they found some in waters they'd already traveled through that were previously empty. But now I can tell them that that's incorrect.

Yes, you can but I fear you may be wrong.

Many other creatures have fixed spawn points which may not produce a creature the first time a viking passes that location. That does not mean a creature will not spawn there in the future.

I have a vague recollection of sailing past a leviathan in a location that was empty when I traversed it on previous voyages.

Normal spawning in the game is random. Spawn points do not automatically produce the associated creature. In my experience, a troll cave does not always contain a troll although that is the way to bet. Also, in my experience, once a viking has killed a troll in a troll cave another troll will not spawn inside the cave. Leviathan spawning may work in the same fashion.

I've been playing this game since December 2020 and have always had a thing for hunting down levi's, so here's what I can tell you about Leviathans:

- Leviathans ONLY spawn in the "Ocean Biome" and will never appear in waters labelled anything else

- Leviathans can spawn in large groups. the largest I've seen was 6 together, which I literally built a home on (google Living on a Leviathan. Part 2: The Quadruplets Reddit to see).

- Leviathans can spawn close to anywhere and it appears the only requisites for them are the ocean biome and a certain minimum depth (total height of storm wave + height of levi = minimum ocean depth they will appear). Aside from that, they can be very close to land or very far from it.

- Best chances/places to find a Levi are:
-- along ocean corridors (long strips of ocean between continents)
-- outsides of continents in oceans, not bays (if they spawn in a bay, it has to be huge and also have a sizable ocean biome)
-- a minimum of 3 or more continents/islands away from your spawn continent/island as this is usually when the oceans widen up or are at least more consistent in chains of oceans

i remember seeing this!!

AFAIK they have fixed spawn points on each world seed.

I've never really noticed a pattern. As far as I recall, once I go through a section of ocean, if I don't see a leviathan it will not appear in the future. The ones I've found on three seeds I've played on are all in the Ocean waters (when the mini-map says ocean).

Not sure about linking to outside sites but ... https://valheim-map.world/ go there or search for the site on google. once there enter your worldseed and it will show the locations of Leviathans after you set the filter.

If you're interested, I also know a map seed that has 2 leviathan spawns just a raft distance off the coast that you can see rendered from standing at the edge of the shores off the main spawn island in a short distance to each other.
